They say, Klinsmann called DFB-official theo Zwanziger and told him he's not going to renew his contract.

I'm sorry for the German fans who love Klinsmann so much. I think we all know where he is going to end up.

Not as US manager I think.
I think he will quit in general IMHO. At least I hope he does.

What does he have to lose giving the USA job a shot? Can't do worse than Arena. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the new challenge he might be looking for.

No way.I can't believe he resigned. After how successful the German team was during this World Cup why does he feel the need to resign?

his reputation.
If he fails (which there is a very distinct possiblity), I think many people may forget about his WC 2006 exploits. I think he will retire, or stay on as advisor for German team or American team.

Family.
Did he elaborate on that reason?Doesn't Klinsmann realize that he united a nation and made Germans proud?

Obviously, it is too soon as of right now.
He realizes that. But if he ********s up from now and the next WC (which he very well may do, especially in the European Championships), a lot of that maybe forgotten.

Do you think Klinsmann is afraid of a challenge?
Plus, failure for a US coach is different than failure for a German coach. Different standards, although they're changing.

I guess people don't know how straining it is to be die Nationalmannschaft trainer. I think Klinsmann has had his taste, has seen his bad and good (and believe me he's seen the WORST, some Sven-Goran Eriksson shit at times :D ). I think he realises he cannot carry on like this.
This is just purely speculation though. I think he is not afraid of a challenge, but he might need a break.

Not necessarily -
1) he's VERY young, and has time to coach at least 5-6 World Cup cycles. he could stay in the US for 1 or 2, and then, if his children are grown, return to Germany or something. He's got time on his side
2) he could end up being the coach that becomes beloved by the US JUST as the US is starting to warm to soccer.

What? Arena has a great record with the National team. I'm not happy how they did in this WC and to be honest they would have done better with another coach, but that's mostly due to the fact that Arena has been with the US national team too long and was too familiar with the players. Give Arena his due. We made a great run in 02 and have done well otherwise on the world stage since he's taken over. We get way more respect than we used to and some of that is Arena.

He certainly good do worse. One bad bounce in Guatemala, and all of a sudden the USA doesn't make the final six in CONCACAF.

Hopefully because he wants to work HERE! (He lives here, loves here)
Though...
He is a rookie coach, and a trained chimp could have gotten Germany to the round of 16...:p

I agree that Arena did very well in 2002, but from what I saw this year he seems burnt out. I am sort of talking out of my arse of course as I haven't seen more than 3 USA matches between 2002 and 2006.
