Renova Is The Cause Of Pekerman’s Departure
The Argentine Football Federation’s contract with Russian conglomerate Renova caused national team coach José Pekerman to part ways with the albiceleste.
The speculation of José Pekerman leaving the squad was not because of the team’s performance in the World Cup. According to Spanish newspaper El País, there were more administrative sellouts that he would not involve himself in that caused that.
Prior to the World Cup, Argentine Federation “Caudillo” Julio Grondona gave the rights to Russian conglomerate Renova. These rights gave the Russians the ability to set up friendly matches around the world for the albiceleste from 2007-2010. Renova would pay the federation US$ 600,000 per match. This gave the conglomerate the right to be involved The federation. These were the conditions on the business side, here comes the scary part.
Some of the other conditions are what alarmed Pekerman. The personal concessions that Renova president Victor Vekselberg would violate his presence with the team and could destroy the integrity and training of any squad. He asked to be able to have his room next to Pekerman’s during the club’s preparations, he wanted to be part of the tactical part of the squad, and be on the bench during every single match. According to other sources, he was even willing to decide which players were going to play or not. If this decision, much like Marcelo Bielsa’s, is irrevocable. Now the world can understand the true decision. Not only that, the drama that the next coach (Diego Maradona included) will have to go through on the road to South Africa 2010.
FIFA has been selling out to the merchandising giants and conglomerates, what would make anyone else think differently about the situation in Argentina - Grondona is one of the vice presidents.

Ok I'm not about to kiss Maradona's ass but isn't he one of the few people to stand up to and call Grondona and his slimy, mafia-inspired presidency what it is? Is this also a point of contention between him and Bianchi?
Not that this would make Maradona a good coach but he has a point. For ********s sake. Anyway, Grondona tiene una cara de mafioso que se le rrrequete cae.

Pekerman resigned because he could not get the most talented team at the world cup past the quarter finals and his decisions cost Argentina the game against Germant, all the rest is hogwash.
As for Grondona, people like him always get involved in football, jumped up nobodies who get a sense of power and prestige that they would not get in the normal business world, there is no way he would make Maradona manager as Diego would stand up to him and people like Grondona only like people who grovel to them.

Wow, this is incredible but oh well whats new?, when was the maffia not involved in this?
I believe that all these "interest groups" probably are involved in one shape or another in the decision on who goes and who doesn't representing our country, there is a lot money involved in this.I believe that also during the famous selection of the 23 there were other elements involved telling peker who to choose. What shoes to wear, etc..... if it wasn't for the scandal that broke out in the Calcio Italiano, Italy would have sent a refferee that is involved right now on the briving and match fixing scandal but thanks to the reporters that discovered this in the investigation, the italian was not allowed to go, as you can see, you are for sale, you can ref the WC. It wouldn't surprise me if 50 years from now we don't find out that some of the games were fixed. This is why we need urgently cameras and a 5 th ref to correct any wrong decision made by the ref on the pitch. But by allowing this, Fifa will loose control of the game..

yeah, this is why Maradona stands up to them , because he doesn't sell out like the official fifa monkey otherwise known as Pele. I disagree with a lot of things Diego does, but I think he is sincere in other things, the problem with him is that his reputation is totally stained due not only to the hand of god incident but also for the drug taking in 1994 he should not have played that WC. Those that hate Argentina hold one to those 2 incidents because they are jelous and cannot erase what maradona did to them, a soccer god unequaled. They rather distract everyone with those two particular incdents with the hope that people will forget the 1000 other achievements by this guy. Those who know football know better.

my question is how is it like in the AFA? do ppl vote for who they want or if Grondona is in charge then he's in charge for the rest of his life? or is there any limit of yrs? Leon was right im not pretty sure about this Article because honestly they can get involved in picking 1 or 2 players not the whole roster and who in hell would wanna pick Scaloni? except for pekerhead? so if they're gonna prevent the coach from picking players like scaloni and cruz hell i seriously dont mind that lol!

This is clearly a deal (if the report is correct) for purely financial reasons. Probably (as Nike do with Brazil) this particular company would like to see certain Argentine players included in the national team (namely Lionel Messi), but beyond that I can't really see it having much interference with the manager and his team selections. What is probably more likely is that the Argentine team will find itself playing more friendly matches for commercial reasons (again as Brazil do for Nike) against nations which may be viewed as good commercial markets (i.e. China).

Although i am a fan of argentina in China, i do not hope Argentina play friendly match with China. I fear the savage chinese soccer player will injure our(argentina) player.

Above is the link to the article.
My take on this is that there is a price to pay for everything, I don't buy the idea that the russians are going to pay 18 million bucks and not have a say on who plays and who doesn't. What if Messi gets injured and the russkies decide that he has to play and if he doesn't it's a breach of contract.? what if and I know they will, a few days before the next WC starts, the russians want that argentina play a game every three days on purpose in order to wear them out and have more injured players before the WC so they can collect on another team they have a bet on? . I'm thinking as a russian now, let's see... if I want Messi out of the next tournament I will pay x player to break his leg in exchange for 300.000 dollars and I will make Argentina play that particular team where even the ref is already bought as well...........if Grondona wants to sell somebody he should sell his mother not our National Team, since when this a hole has the right to do this?. Another thing, let's hope that in the next WC draw we don't have to play Russia because now we have a conflict of interest, what if this group owns more than just Argentina through other companies. They can have an influence on the outcome of the tournament. From what I read, the russian will provide a list of 30 players and from those, the coach has to pick at least seven, that's not freedom, that sucks,!! what if you don't like any of the players they want you to play, what if your system doesn't allow many of teh guys they wan to see play, what if the list they provide has 12 strikers and the other guys absolutely suck and you want to try other players that no one has considered? ....this will limiti the coach tremendously. Ahh what the hell, everything is a maffia.

18 million dollars is a lot of
money, I don't think the AFA are in a position to turn that sort of cash down. Hopefully they will use it to improve the infrastructure of Argentine football so there are better training facilities etc.

Here in summary it's the contract...

I dont think they're willing to pay 18 million dollars to make Argentina one of the worst teams out there and i dont think that others involved in the AFA including the president of Argentina will accept it neither will some big names in sports so dont worry guys if they'll do exactly what the article says dont forget that Argentina have world wide supporters not just Argentinians and many ppl will be protesting and others wont allow itand the russians are not stupid to pay 18 million for injuring messi! so calm down the Fifa is not a toy and football is not that easy to play with some of the article is true and some is rumors and heard of
