okay, i am sick of everytime i go to yahoo.com or espn.com that i get slammed with pop-ups.
anyone have any suggestions for some good pop-up ad blockers? free-ware would be best but if there is something better out there that costs some money i would think about it. i am just sick of them...

The Proxomitron kills pop-ups and much more to make your browsing experience more enjoyable. Very good freeware. Originally recommended by Rick (see the Rick's Excellent Freeware thread).

Too bad you don't use Safari, it's got a pop up blocker built in.
Doesn't one of the Mozilla browsers for Windoze have a pop up blocker installed in it? check out www.mozzilla.org for more...

In Mozilla, Edit-Preferences-Advanced-Scripts&Plugins
unselect "Allow webpages to: open unrequested windows"

Downloaded the proximotron one last night but couldn't get it to work properly. Pop-ups were still happening and that log-window was showing nothing was going on.
Maybe it's me, but I'm going to give that panic one a shot now.
Edit - just had a quick look - do we have to pay for that one??

no, there are pay versions of that pop-up blocker from panicware but the free version has worked great for me...
with proximotron you had to change some things in your browser connection window and that slowed my download time a lot, which is why i didnt like it.

Just get norton personal firewall. It's cheap. It blocks spyware as well.

Not as cheap as me - I'm after free stuff.
On a related note, I was really surprised by the amount of spyware out there that most people wouldn't notice (if they were being lazy like me and not reading small print).
