Troy was MOTM
Great goal and dumb foul by Esky
This team wins ugly. This team rocks.
As Chico said in the PBP thread: "Suck it, Columbus!"

Gutsy win. BS call on Esky, usual sub par MLS reffing job. I'll take the 3 points thank you very much.

Just win, baby.
Stupid, stupid foul by Esky. The ref had no choice, as Esky took a good 5-10 yard run at the player; you could see it coming. The player embellished it, no doubt, but it was a red either way.

I don't think we've lost a lead since Peter started subbing Wilson in to help on D once we have a lead to preserve.

Eski had a brillant goal. Not worried about his suspension. He will be back with a vengence. I think he was just frustrated with the fact that he was not give the call on a clear foul.

A shoulder?
Was this Serious Foul Play? Violent Conduct?
I don't think so.

Esky lost the mind game on the dead-ball, but that was a sweet free kick. It's nice to have two options on those.

What makes it a red was that it was a dead-ball foul. No reason at all for any contact.

Guys, I really don't know how you can be upset about Esky seeing Red on that foul - it was a bad, dumb, deliberate, uncessary foul on a dead ball... I'd be disappointed if a ref DIDN'T give a red in that situation. The blame's totally on Esky for that one.
I love his passion - it serves us well most times. In that case, it cost us. I'll still take the trade-off, just saying is all.

Not saying it wasn't dumb, but no way was that a red card. That is a yellow at best. Eski will most likely apologize for the foul.

Look, Esky was clearly wasting time after the whistle blew by not allowing the C-bus player to get the ball - just like kicking it away (which will get you a yellow now). he got shoved in return - so the ref probably figured turnabout is fair play, let's get on with the game. Esky thenretaliates when he started the whole thing. Was the red harsh? Sure. But Esky's bonehead foul was really stupid. I thought the ref actuallt called an O.K. game.
Esky needs to stop committing stupid fouls.
But as long as he keeps scoring, I'll cut him some slack. :D

Ball wasn't in play, so it will probably be recorded as VC.
A shoulder? Yeah, that may have been the part of the body Esky used, but that doesn't make it any less of an offense. Taking an obvious run at a player and throwing yourself into him is just as much VC as if you'd hit him with your fist, technically speaking.
Ask yourself this question: if it was a Colmbus player that did that, would you still think it was only a yellow? Be honest. :D

I hope Esky plays a full 90 against Celtic because he's just starting to get match fit. Sitting out against Columbus next week will be a step back.

It's all good though, since he'll serve the suspension against these same sorry bastards.

Wonder if Gomez will play a half for the reserves tomorrow. Doubt it.

I hope we put up six on their reserves. Gomito, Adu, and Q should all get reserve time tomorrow. Why? Because we CAN, dammit!!!!!
When was the last time we had a pre-match thread for a reserve game?
