I agree. Don't they know I need to make PLANS? Geez.....
I'm over sometime b/w Oct. 29 and November 9. Some of that depends on when the ManU match (and the liverpool match the weekend before) is set.
Does anyone know whether Sky/Setanta would move the November 3rd match to Sunday knowing that Man U and Arsenal (likely) will be competing in the CL the following week? Who has priority there?
I'm pretty sure the Man U Nov 3rd match is going to be on the Sunday. Looking at the rest of the fixtures for that week, I really don't know what could takes its place. I think the ratings are too important to Sky to NOT put a marquee game like that on Sunday afternoon, 2 games in 3 or 4 days be damned. This is particularly true since we aren't even in the group stage yet anyways, technically

So why wouldn't they have it as a 12.45pm Sat game then...................;) :p
Sky figure show they get more viewers for that than the 4pm kick off.

"FRANK G". You didn't say how much you were paying a night. I used to work that area for 4 years, and personally I wouldn't recommend it. You can encounter trouble at any time in any city. Sometimes it's just a question of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. However the chances can be reduced by being in a better area. About 5 years ago, I came across some Americans who contacted me for tickets and I met them where they were staying, which was at the "Dover Hotel", near Victoria train and coach stations. It's about 5 mins. from the Victoria line, so easy access to central London, and 6 stops from Finsbury Park, for AFC, and 15 mins. travelling. It's small and ecomonic, but if it's just you then I would say it would be fine. They paid £50 a night, which is good for central London. Last time I knew someone stayed there was 2 years ago, and it was £55. Expect maybe £60 now. They have a web site which, from memory is doverhotel.co.uk or something close to that. I think you would be better off staying there than around Archway. I hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff. I've gotten mixed reviews re: Archway, so I've got my reservation (they didn't require any deposit) at that hotel, but, depending on how the schedule shakes out and where, if anywhere, else I might be going during my week to ten days, I have a few backups, as well. The Archway place offered 7 nights for the price of 6, but if there's an away game or an overnight trip in there somewhere, it makes more sense, moneywise, to stay elsewhere. There are a few places near Tufnell Park and a few other places a bit more out of the city that are workable (including some near Chelsea/Fulham, but I'd rather not have to do that). My budget is even tighter than usual, and if I'm going to get in 3 Arsenal matches (I hope it works out that I can get to the CC game the week before), plus a lower league match or 2, I need to trim where I can. Thanks again.

Yah that is clearly the other "marquee" time slot. Didn't know about their ratings figures, thanks; I'd looked, but wasn't able to find them.
If they do get better #s for the Saturday game, why does it seems it's reserved for the North London derby recently (and, it seems, Liverpool late last season). Games against Man U and Chelsea are always on Sundays (we haven't played Man U on a Sat since 02-03). Is this to accommodate overseas viewers?

I thought that derby matches were moved to the earlier times because of safety concerns?

I went to the Europa Hotel that you recommended and really liked it. Nice place, nice and helpful staff, plus easy to get to and a relatively short walk to the stadium. Plus, at 35 quid a night for a single, plus brekkie, it is hard to beat in London.

There's another on the same street that's still below 30gbp with breakfast. That's one backup. The Europa is also on the list as a back up. My budget is TIGHT!

Totally understandable. Hhowever, looking for something less than 35 quid a night is going to be tough and dodgy IMO. Do you know anyone who is thinking of heading over at the same time to split a room with?

You forgot to mention the hot eastern-European girls that work there!

Derby games are always early for safety reasons. Just luck I think. I always say this as however much I say it I always get 2 or 3 people a season who get the Friday night flight which doesn't get in until Sat am and however much I tell them they don't have enough time.....................(newcastle last season!!!) they think they do and turn up late and miss part of the game which makes me miss part of the game!!
So as there are so many coming to Man U I would rather them have it in their heads it could be Sunday if you see where I am coming from................

Rick, depending on how the schedule falls, I will either be there on the Friday (morning), November 2 or earlier in the week, October 30th.
As to the dodgy area, Cam, I have very low standards re: areas of London. There were some dodgy moments (late night) on my last trip (in Camden Town and near the Tufnell Park station) but it didn't bother me.

Speaking of dodgy areas, can anyone shed light on the Neasden area? I know it's a bit far out, but the price for an en-suite room I've found just cannot be beat. I'd appreciate any input anyone has on the area. Best I can find on the net indicates it has a big temple of some sort, but it's an otherwise boring suburb. The place is about .2 miles from the tube station.

Neasden would be like a cross between the Bronx and Harlem.

Wait, that's bad, right?
I guess that explains the cheap room price (although it is in a private residence...)

If anyone has tickets available for games from 26 December to the 10 January, I'd look into purchasing them.

You have been around here long enough to know what to do abut tickets.

Frank. I've told you. Stay down at Victoria. There's less of a chance of you being "mugged" down there.
You might get blown up however! ;)

Jeff, I am now officially obsessed about finding the absolute perfect place to stay. If I'm over for 9-10 days (possible), then my budget won't allow 50gbp a night (or even 40).
What about Bounds Green in N11? Is that an ok area?
