I was waiting for someone to use that line with all of this fallout. :D
Dude, I've heard it so much during this World Cup, I just had to use it. And it's especially true in this area.
Sometimes it's still hard for me to fathom that I'm closer to Milan than I am to Dortmund........

LOL
Well, a LOT of Italian players (Italian nationals) Would probably stay in Italy I would imagine, even after the fallout. Could have an interesting impact on some of the middle tier clubs, perhaps?

Well, like I said, I think Roma would benefit more than most. They are a club on the verge and Inter really has too much foreign talent taking up most of their slots. Sampdoria and Udinese also come to mind as clubs who have the means to take in some of the big stars if these four clubs are relegated.....

But there are a lot of foreigners on these teams...some names that come into mind:
Robert Kovac (Croatian)
Lilian Thuram (French)
David Trezeguet (French)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Swedish)
Pavel Nedved? (If he decides to come back maybe, Czech)
Patrick Vieira (French)
Johnatan Zebina (French)
Emerson (Brazilian)
Ruben Oliveira (Uruguayan?)
Marcelo Danubio Zalayeta (Uruguayan)
Adrian Mutu (Romanian)
Kaka (Brazilian)
Johann Vogel (Swiss)
Marek Jankulovski (Czech)
Dida (Brazilian)
Zeljko Kajac (Australian/Croatian)
Cafu (Brazilian)
Kakha Kaladze (Georgian)
Dario Simic (Croatian)
Clarence Seedorf (Dutch)
Serginho (Brazilian)
Sandro Bloudek (Slovenian)
Sebastian Frey (French)
Tomas Ujfalusi (Czech)
Per Kroldrup (Danish)
Martin Jorgensen (Danish)
Valeri Bojinov (Bulgarian)
Bogdan Labont (Romanian)
Valon Behrami (Swiss)
Goran Pandev (Bulgarian)
Igli Tare (Albanian)
A long list of internationals. I bet some teams in die Bundesliga will poach these players, especially the cheaper ones (who will become even more cheaper if they are convicted). I could see Werder snapping up a nice center back, Hamburg snapping up another striker...who knows even Hertha might get a piece of the pie. :D
Already Bayern have been interested a bit in Mutu...I mean most of these players have too much class to probably play in Germany, but as we have seen in many players (i.e. Kroldrup at Everton, Nakata at Bolton) that players comng from Serie A to EPL has been shaky...who knows.

Bayern and HSV were looking at Valeri Bojinov as well

Way to throw a dog a bone man!! :) I'm going to town!!!
Mainly looking at this from a Bundesliga fan's perspective.......
I also think more will stay on than most people believe.

See my comments on Mutu below......

I don't see too many of them with "too much class" for Germany. Of course, the 'BIG' names, yeah. But even if FCN's tightwad of a president decided to take a gamble, they could probably get Pavel Nedved for one season.
Hell, if Hansa Rostock can get Jiri Litmanen for one season, anything can be done here!!!!
Robert Kovac (Croatian)
Already played in the Bundesliga and last club was Bayern. Wouldn't see him coming back here unless someone could make it worth his while!
Lilian Thuram (French)
If they are only relegated to Serie B, I can see him staying. If it is the harsher penalty, I can see him going to England to get paid......
David Trezeguet (French)
Same as Thuram.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Swedish)
I think if they are only relegated to Serie B, he stays.
I also think he would be a prime candidate for Roma. That's although he got exposed as overrated at this World Cup. I could see a club like HSV going for him too, even though they are after Vittek.
Pavel Nedved? (If he decides to come back maybe, Czech)
I think he'd retire or consider either Bayern or one final season at Sparta Prague. He would have to play where he would get PAID and somewhere closer to home than he is now.
Bayern can provide both. Nuernberg is close to home, but they can't afford his salary. Sparta Prague would just be a farewell and a final paycheck.
Patrick Vieira (French)
If they are only relegated to Serie B, I think he stays. If not, perhaps a return to Arsenal??
Johnatan Zebina (French)
Roma.
Emerson (Brazilian)
I think he'd be a perfect fit back at Leverkusen. I could see Bayern going for him too.
If Dortmund weren't already on the verge of signing Tinga from Internacional Porto Allegre, I'd throw our names in that hat too.
Ruben Oliveira (Uruguayan?)
Marcelo Danubio Zalayeta (Uruguayan)
Can't really say.
Adrian Mutu (Romanian)
You mention above that Bayern have had interest in him. I don't remember that. When was it?? I thought Bayern didn't mess with players with Mutu's past history??
Kaka (Brazilian)
Believe it or not, I think he'd stay at AC Milan. That kid truly loves that club.
Marek Jankulovski (Czech)
Can't say. Possibly Roma.
Dida (Brazilian)
Johann Vogel (Swiss)
Cafu (Brazilian)
Kakha Kaladze (Georgian)
Clarence Seedorf (Dutch)
Serginho (Brazilian)
Martin Jorgensen (Danish)
Like Kaka, I think all these guys would stay put.......
Tomas Ujfalusi (Czech)
Hard to say. I don't know if he's very loyal yet, but I can see him staying.
Zeljko Kajac (Australian/Croatian)
Sandro Bloudek (Slovenian)
Valeri Bojinov (Bulgarian)
Bogdan Labont (Romanian)
Dario Simic (Croatian)
Sebastian Frey (French)
Valon Behrami (Swiss)
Goran Pandev (Bulgarian)
Per Kroldrup (Danish)
Can't say.
Igli Tare (Albanian)
Igli Tare would probably stay put. If not with his club, then in Italy. He's been there long enough.
For those who don't know, Tare has had a Bundesliga stints with Karlsruhe (KSC) and 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
He also played in the 2. Liga for Fortuna Duesseldorf.
I guess I really couldn't say he wouldn't come back to Germany for the right offer........

Not going to respond to the entire post, so I'll pick and choose.
@ Ibrahimovic...if the guy REALLY thinks he's as good as he advertises, then he will bolt. I could see Barcelona picking this guy up.
@ Kovac...didn't make much of an impression in Juventus. Could come back to the Bundesliga. Werder Bremen could really use another CB, no offense, but Fahrenhorst and Naldo aren't YET great defenders. Kovac is a bit above them IMO. Ditto for Ujfalusi, Kaladze.
@Thuram...for some reason I think he goes to one season back in France and then gets paid (either in Japan, Qatar or Monaco :D )
@Vieira...thinking Real Madrid or Arsenal...or Manchester United
@ Ruben Oliveira and Zalayeta...I could see them in a Bundesliga shirt (Oliveira at a side like Bielefeld), while Zalayeta...I dare say I could see him in Hertha colors. :)
@ Kaka...I could see him doing that too, but I say 65% he will leave. Maybe Lyon?
@ Frey...Manchester United would be the logical place for him to go. Maybe Arsenal too.
@ Simic...another candidate for a bigger German team. With Hinkel gone, he could be a viable choice for VfB, but they may have been done with the expensive Mexicans. But putting trust on a player who's even younger than me is a gamble.
@ Pandev, Bojinov, Vehrami, Jorgensen...these players would be perfect for Bundesliga. Hamburg, Werder, Bayern, Hertha, Bayer Leverkusen and the two big Ruhrpott teams should keep a keen eye on these players
@ Tare... 2. Bundesliga. :p
@ Vogel...Hertha need a DM...if St. Etienne are interested, I think we should be interested (ditto for Leverkusen maybe, Scheisse now that Poulsen is gone and Ernst is injured).
@ Jankulovski...class player. But I think he stays in Italy.

You don´t know yet, which punishment will be done against
the clubs involved in the Italian scandal.
So don´t sell the pelt of the bear before you haven´t killed him. ;)
If a decision is done, then also the BL clubs will react.
Exactly. I don't really believe they will actually have to go down.

If several teams are relegated. What are the implications for the rest of Europe and more specifically....the Bundesliga

Also EE, many teams have a lot of hope now that something can be done.
{originally posted in hertha-inside.de}

You know, even if all those teams get releagated (which I still don't think will happen) Inter still won't manage to win Seria A!

Guys, you should wait till the deer is shot! ;)
It does not make sense to include players from clubs, which aren't that likely to be relegated like Juventus - that's the only club I can see going to down so far. Additionally such a player movement from relegated Italian clubs to other clubs in europe, will cause other players from those other clubs to move as well. Besides that Bundesliga clubs are not likely to poach players from the relegated clubs, though there may be one or two exceptions, but I really don't wanna see Bayern grabbing up one of those "I'm miles past my zenith-players" like Nedved, Emerson, etc.

Guys, what we are doing is just discussion and speculation. Which is most of what comprises these boards.
It's not as if we are talking about something that did not or can't happen.
We are talking about something that might happen.
So why not just let us have our speculation?
After all, should it happen, we've got a jump on the proceedings. :)

I'm going all the way!
Speculation to the end!! LOL!! :D
@ Ibrahimovic...if the guy REALLY thinks he's as good as he advertises, then he will bolt. I could see Barcelona picking this guy up.
It doesn't matter how good HE thinks he is. Some other major club will have to WANT him. He showed that he's not one of the world's top strikers at the World Cup. He damaged his worth there. The biggest names will not line up to throw money at this guy should he become available.
They won't ignore him, but they won't fight over him either.
Bremen won't pay what Kovac, Ujfalusi or Kaladze would demand in salary. Now if one of them does come free and takes a reduced offer to play CL football, then you might be right on the money.
@Thuram...for some reason I think he goes to one season back in France and then gets paid (either in Japan, Qatar or Monaco :D )
I don't think so. I think he stays at Juve or goes to England. Either Arsenal or Newcastle. I don't think his links to the French league are that great anymore.
@Vieira...thinking Real Madrid or Arsenal...or Manchester United
Can't see him going to Man U. If not Arsenal, I think Liverpool would be his next destination. Although I'd LOVE to see him at Man U.....
@ Ruben Oliveira and Zalayeta...I could see them in a Bundesliga shirt (Oliveira at a side like Bielefeld), while Zalayeta...I dare say I could see him in Hertha colors. :)
And just how will either of those clubs pay for those guys?? And I don't mean a transfer fee, I mean their salaries.
@ Kaka...I could see him doing that too, but I say 65% he will leave. Maybe Lyon?
No. That kid loves AC Milan. I don't see him leaving at all. And if he does, I'd bet money that Real would sell their soul to get him.
@ Frey...Manchester United would be the logical place for him to go. Maybe Arsenal too.
Agree.
@ Simic...another candidate for a bigger German team. With Hinkel gone, he could be a viable choice for VfB, but they may have been done with the expensive Mexicans. But putting trust on a player who's even younger than me is a gamble.
Again, can't say.
@ Pandev, Bojinov, Vehrami, Jorgensen...these players would be perfect for Bundesliga. Hamburg, Werder, Bayern, Hertha, Bayer Leverkusen and the two big Ruhrpott teams should keep a keen eye on these players
Dortmund, I'm quite certain are done in the transfer market. We don't have any slots for any other players. As far as your other speculation, I can't say much. Don't know enough about each situation.
@ Tare... 2. Bundesliga. :p
He stays in Italy
@ Vogel...Hertha need a DM...if St. Etienne are interested, I think we should be interested (ditto for Leverkusen maybe, Scheisse now that Poulsen is gone and Ernst is injured).
I think Scheisse would jump at him. Good call.
@ Jankulovski...class player. But I think he stays in Italy.
Can't say, but if I had to bet, I'd go with you on this one.

http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jul7e.html
At this stage, I don't think he would want to leave Italy because he has played within the Italian system for a few years now.
If Hamburg or Bremen are interested, Pandev should go to one of these clubs. He is a good player and he can score spectacular goals.
