Even in successful cup years, for me, atleast, in takes a while for my passion in the USMNT to return. I'll watch MLS, but I've spent sooo much energy and time since qualification and the draw, that I'm a bit drained now.
I suppose maybe October-November I'll start feeling it again.
I remember in Nov, 2002, we played El Salvador at RFK, which saw Ben Olsen score and included players like Martino. That was exciting, b/c we could build on the success of the previous June.

Leaving the stadium after US/Ghana, I wondered out loud, "When does college football start?"
I also suggested, half-kidding, to my gf that we should just go straight to Frankfurt and catch an early flight home. Luckily, I did not have high expectations of our boys coming into this WC, so I was able to recover from my moroseness the next day and enjoy the rest of my trip.
My passion is definitely down, but I am already having thoughts of going to S Africa. The last 18 months or so have been a blast, starting with pre-hype for the 1st phase of ticket sales, actually getting tickets in August, booking flights, booking hotels, learning German, and of course the actual WC experience itself with the culmination probably coming during the Italy game.
With DC playing great, the possibility of US in Copa America, the rumors of Arena being replaced, and some interesting Yanks Abroad opportunities in the Premiership, I shouldn't suffer too much withdrawal. My passion for the team will remain at a healthy level. I'm definitely looking forward to the next friendly.

As the final second ticked off against Ghana, I was ready for the next game. Just a pebble along a bumpy road to the first star!

I just went to my first galaxy game since coming back , and I was just bored by it . It will take a month or so for me to get into MLS again , but after the best time in Germany at the WC , it just seems so different .
I cant wait til our next game , im so stoked for the Azteca !!! I'm going !

Did the passion ever leave?
I mean, that, above all else, is why I keep checking BS every day--waiting to see if anything newsworthy pops up--the future of The Bruce, who we bring in, when we schedule the first game, where the first game is (Toyota Park?), etc.

the passion starts now. after watching the WC i'm already considering my options for 2010 in south africa. wish it was somewhere else, but hey, it'll still be fun.
there's other stuff inbetween. i live in a soccer no man's land but i work in the airline industry so catching USMNT matches isn't a big issue.
