I'm surprised to not see a thread on this already. Do you think they'll eventually compromise, or is the 5th season in jeopardy? Seems more testy than your normal contract dispute.

Gandolfini wants more money, HBO wants its final all-hell-breaks-loose season. They will resolve it.

Man, that exchange rate is a killer

The Sopranos network HBO is set to counter-sue the show's star James Gandolfini claiming his refusal to film another series would cost it $100m (£62,453).

Contact - 1 a : a binding agreement between two or more persons or parties; especially : one legally enforceable b : a business arrangement for the supply of goods or services at a fixed price <make parts on contract> c : the act of marriage or an agreement to marry
2 : a document describing the terms of a contract
3 : the final bid to win a specified number of tricks in bridge

James Gandolfini agreed to a contract, and he should stick to that agreement.

If he doesn't, HBO could always pursue the fourth definition.

4 : an order or arrangement for a hired assassin to kill someone

Tony Soprano would certainly understand. :)
