I'm a big fan of Liverpool and I know nothing of this player. Please give your opinion of this player. Where does he usually play etc. I have been trying Atletico Banfields homepage but I don't understand spanish so that was futile.

If you can find a torrent to the last Youth WC, you should be able to see him play. I TIVO'd that tourney and browsed it the other day. He was a man amongst boys in most games. He'll require a bit to get used to the English game. Coming from Argentina the physical play won't bother him too much. Look at Heinze pre injury.

With Liverpool finalising the move for Gabriel Paletta, I would request that those in the know tell me anything about our new signing...
Thanks

He has signed for Liverpool but it's been suggested he may be loeaned out to a Spanish club. We'll have to wait and see.

ive seen him play a couple of times he's pretty good he might be the next central defender for the NT but he's good he marks and covers well and he's not the slow type of defender he's more like the hyper something like Carragher, Marquez thats his type a little more involved then just sitting back

From what I've seen during the U-20 tournament, he's really good. One thing though, does he play on the left (like Heinze) or on the right (like Ayala)? I can't seem to remember.
I hope he continues progressing. Loaning him to a smaller club doesn't sound like a bad idea. At his age he needs to start gaining confidence, not warming the bench.

In my opinion Paletta is a young great player, played in Banfield (no atletico needed). Banfield is a team known for strong physical play under both coaches Falcioni and no Leeb so he should have no problem adapting to European futbol. I only wish River would have signed him up before Liverpool. You bastards.

Well Paletta is about to play his third pre- season game for Liverpool today he'll be at the back as a three with traore (unfortuntely)and hyypia.
he's been getting some attention in the national press as well
"sami Hyypia has vowed to do everything he can to help Liverpool's Argentine new boy Gabriel Paletta settle into English football.
Hyypia claims the 20-year-old Argentinian youth international reminds him of Jamie Carragher in the way he tackles and his strong positional sense.
"He's a great defender, you can see that straight away," enthused the big Finn. "The manager said he reminds him of Carra and he's right. He's a great tackler and he'll be very good for Liverpool. The best advice I can give him is to have the will to learn every day, and it's particularly important for him to learn English quickly. I had that advantage because I could speak English before I joined Liverpool, which was a big help.
"It will take him more time to learn the language, but the key to playing well in the Premiership is to always work hard. He knows everyone in the squad will do everything they can to help him adapt, including me.
"Some people might think I'll be thinking of my own position, but that's not an issue when you're helping a new team-mate. Of course competition keeps everyone on their toes, but I'm not worrying about that at all. If Gabriel plays well and helps the team more than me, he should play."
Hyypia also admitted he welcomed the extra competition for places at centre half with Paletta and also Danish international Daniel Agger waiting in the wings.
"The older you get, the longer the recovery time is between games," added Hyypia. "

Hardman Paletta lets his game do all the talking
Gabriel Paletta may still be struggling with his English, but the statement of intent he sent out on his second appearance for Liverpool could not have been clearer.
With the clock running down on a 1-0 win over Crewe in Saturday's preseason friendly and the ball rolling towards the touchline, Paletta sprinted 30 yards to intercept teenager Billy Jones.
Would the Argentine defender usher Jones into the corner or perhaps stretch out a leg to poke the ball out of play? Neither.
Paletta did not flinch as he ploughed full speed into a shuddering tackle that was as fair as it was fearless.
There were no complaints from Crewe, even though Jones had to be carried off with bruising. And manager Rafael Benitez seemed satisfied with Paletta's uncompromising approach as he settles in alongside Liverpool's other South American signings Fabio Aurelio and Mark Gonzalez.
"Most of them speak good English," said Benitez. "Only Paletta needs to improve a little bit, but he's working with the English teacher."
When it was suggested the £2million signing from Atletico Banfield did not need any work on his tackling, the Liverpool boss smiled in agreement, adding: "I don't think so!"
Paletta has been likened to Roberto Ayala and if he was hoping to rubber-stamp his reputation as a typical Argentine hardman, he could not have done it in a more emphatic manner.
Fast, strong and tenacious, the 20-year-old seems to possess all the attributes of a formidable defender and he is expected to mount a strong challenge to Liverpool's established central defensive pairing of Sami Hyypia and Jamie Carragher this season.
Aurelio and Gonzalez also tried to catch Benitez's eye against Crewe in a game that saw the return of Bolo Zenden, who has been out for eight months with a knee injury.
A 13th-minute goal by 17-year-old striker Craig Lindfield was enough to give Liverpool victory
