By this I mean names and kits, really- aside from the obvious stuff (I'm certain everyone here is doing something different with formations), there's not much more you can do.

Anyone else created logos (I did logos for Adidas, Nike and Umbro, still working on Puma. I used text for Kappa and Hummel), badges, sponsors (Gave a shot at badges and sponsors for most the EPL teams since that's my ML league), that sort of thing?

I hand did some sponsor logos (Adidas, Nike, etc) but that's about it. Don't have much patience for pixel-by-pixel editing.

I tell you what... neither do I. That's why I'm still working on Puma. But the club badges were done layer. That's no big deal. Sponsors aren't that difficult, either.

I've used a bunch of different sponsors during about 10 ML seasons with WE8 and going on 6 with WE9. Changed kits about every other season like they do in real life. Always Adidas, tho.

Gios (bike frame manufacturer out of Turin),
Fed Ex
Renault (did their diamond logo pixel edit)
Playstation2
Nokia
Panasonic
Sony
Dell

Almost all of these are just text, so they weren't hard. Pixel edit on the Vodafone logo for ManU. NT badges I haven't even tried, because Konami, in all their wisdom, forgot to include that feature for the NTs.

With WE6 and 7 I used a 4-4-2 flat back, diamond mid for ML, and a 3-5-2 with 2 d-mids for Brasil. In WE8 I started using a 3-5-2 for both NT and ML, same 2 d-mid formation. In both cases the d-mid with either the better defensive stats or the lesser offensive stats was withdrawn almost to the center back position- I kept him a d-mid so he'd participate somewhat in the attack. I have found WE9 to be more difficult, so I switched back to a 4-4-2 flat back diamond mid for ML. I always fiddle with positioning within these formations, tho- they're never stock.

I start to look at the fatigue levels around the 60 min. mark, earlier only if I've got a player in that I know is tired from previous matches. If I'm ahead at 70 min. I go into a 5-4-1; if behind at 65, a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3. I generally make two subs at that point, saving the last one for an emergency. I use the third sub around the 80 min. mark. If no one's tired, I sub out the attacker I'm most likely to need next match.

I've begun to pay much more attention to the "balance" attribute when buying defenders. I got beat a couple of times by a team where the forward just muscled my defender out of position and scored on the header. I started getting defenders with a balance of at least 85 and that hasn't happened since. I'm also at the point where defenders and midfielders must have teamwork ratings in the upper 80s. I also buy young players- I won't even look at a player over 28, or or one with a mentality level below 75 unless his other stats are just through the roof. I think I may have some who don't match these criteria, but it's because they've been around awhile. Once they're retired or traded, they'll be replaced with players that match my demands.

Here's an idea. Use a MaxDrive or an X-Port to download a WE8 option file save, and then import into WE9. One of the things it'll bring over is custom logos and emblems, if the option file has them.

I assume you can buya MaxDrive or an X-Port at Best Buy or GameStop. But where do you get the option files with the logos? Ebay?

I ask because I once saw some auctions for PS2 memory cards with NCAA Football info there. The seller claimed the cards had it fixed so the actual names of the players were used in the commentary.

Option files can be found at gamefaqs and I'm sure if you poke around, www.pesinsight.com. Even though PES Insight is aimed more at the EU and JP releases, there are some who mod and edit for the US release.

Is an Action Replay compatible with option files at pesinsight? I have WE9 for my Xbox and Max Drives are hard to come by around here.

What formations do you guys use??
I stick to a 4-5-1. That way you have wingers with 2 DMs and a striker.
Such as;
Sagnol-Thuram-Gallas-Abidal
Viera-Makelele
Ribery-Zidane-Henry
Trezeguet

If I'm down at the 70th I go 4-3-3:
Sagnol-Thuram-Gallas-Abidal
Viera-Makelele
Zidane
Cisse-Trezeguet-Henry

Just curious- why not put Pires in Henry's place and Henry up front? Trez could come off the bench.

Cuz I think Pires sux and I abuse Henry on the wing cuz hees mad fast and and and cuz Trez can head the ball and can pounce on rebounds. And I stopped using Ribery there, I started putting Cisse there as he is mad fast too. So both of my formations are simular its just a matter of how far up/back Henry and Cisse play.

I use 3-4-3.

With Cote d'Ivoire... they have so many forwards so it always depends on who is in the best form to start. But I guess with a "default" formation I generally use:

-------------Gnanhouan-----------
-----Tebily-----Toure-----Boka----
------------Zokora----------------
-----------------Domoraud--------
--Kalou---------------------Akale--
-----Drogba--Bakayoko--Dindane---

And with Norway I use:

---------------Myhre-------------
----Johnsen--Lundekvam---Berg---
----------Bergdolmo---------------
------------------Riise------------
--Iversen-------------F. Johnsen--
------Flo----Carew---Solskjaer----

With the way I use both of them its technically a 5-0-5, but it works. :p

I usually don't change my formation, especially if I am winning (if it's not broke, don't fix it). If I am losing and desperately need a goal though I will change to a 3-3-4 or even 2-3-5 depending on how bad I need to score. I have been known to run a 2-2-6 at times as well. :p

I cannot play with more than 3 defenders though. Especially against the computer. The way this game is, I feel like the more defenders I have back, the better chance I have of getting burned because one of them will be stupid and keep the striker (usually on the other side of the field) onsides.
