Why I will support Italy through the Semi's (US fan edition)

Ok, Italy is the last team in our group left and they are playing well. The US played Italy to a thrilling 1-1 tie and Italy barely left that game with a tie. With 9 men we took Italy to the brink and still pressured them. Italy's league may be in shambles due to the scandal and are in desperate need to keep things positive for their own sake. After the US vs Italy game in Kaiserslautern there was some Italian guy handing out a flyer, full color and well presented, about how the God of football may have left Italy for their sins and how the scandal is a black mark on the whole nation. When the Italian girl I was with, yes the hot one at the festival taking a million photos with fans, read the flyer to me I was moved. It may have sounded kinda wierd and geeky but it was from the heart, someone put time and money into these flyers, and they really are scared of what will happen to their precious Calcio. Aside from that, Italy partied hard with the US fans and we had a blast. If they weren't playing Germany, which I am also partially wanting to win because they were great hosts, Italy is by far my favorite team to take home the Cup.

Hell, I would MOVE to Germany because I just simply LOVE it there, but, at this moment... I am dating a rather hot Italian girl. This past year I have made tons of Italian friends on my Island, all of them very cool, I don't know any Germans on this Island. Its a personal prefrence right now really. I think you are a fantastic supporter of Germany and the US, in my heart I am truly split as to whom I want to win.

I have too many Italians around me at the moment to even think of cheering for Germany, even though as I stated before, have been fantastic hosts and deserve the cup just as much as Italy do for the right reasons. I think Italy NEED it more than Germany do for the wrong reasons. Germany has a strong league and are not suffering from massive scandal right now. Italy has shot themselves in the foot and are down on their league and they are looking to the cup for salvation. Its an odd thing, how a game means so much to people, that is why soccer will always be the no. 1 sport in the world.

wow, such a nice letter for me. Well I can not be mad at you because you root for Italy. Actually it is very hard for me too. My father´s family is italian and Italy is like my second home country. So I love Italy. I wish we never played against Italy. But since I grewed up in Germany and I live in Germany I will root for Germany of course. But it is really hard for me. this game will break my heart. I have many italian friends. My best friend is italian. so can you imagine how is my heart now???

I also wish I could meet you. But similar to you , I was really very busy during the world cup. I went to few games, I met friends, I did travelling.

I love soccer. Soccer is not just sport, it is more than politics, it is better politics because soccer world cup in Germany is like "international" meeting from fans from whole world. It is so nice to meet people from many countries here in Germany.

I want Italy to win because I really just love the Azzurri. I watch Serie A every weekend and I know the players very well through that, my family is from Italy, I speak Italian so I can understand everything, I've been watching Italian football since I was very young. And I've always loved the Italian national team!

i will never root for Italy after their cheating and diving and using the referee to advance . We should have beaten Italy and I also feel bad for the Aussies .
I felt cheated after the game against Italy , as I left the stadium I was so proud of our players but i felt bad for them because they should have been leaving Kaiserslautern with 3 points .
I hope Germany wins the rest of the cup .

I'm rooting for the Germans, bltleo. The Germans were great hosts -- I loved my two weeks there, although my last night in Nuremberg was sort of sad. Also, the Germans are the only team in the last four that didn't cheat their way there, or that didn't get there by dubious calls. Therefore, I'm behind the Germans. Although, I wouldn't begrudge Zizou going out on top -- he deserves it.

I want to see a Germany vs. France final. I'm rooting for Germany; Germany have been playing attacking, entertaining football and are worthy of the title. France also have been fun to watch lately, and a Germany vs. France final might very well be one of the best World Cup finals we have had in decades.

I'm afraid if Italy gets to the final we're going to have another one of those 0-0, negative, defensive stinkers of a game, decided by penalty kicks. Screw that. :D

IT WAS ARGENTINA who started...they started to spank german players first.....italian press that "made big headlines" and probably complained by FIFA..and now Frings will not play for semi-finale...however, ARGENTINIAN players were sore losers..they behaved horrible after game.....

it is only strange that italian medias showed these pictures and wanted that Frings will be suspended. Pretty strange:)
