Brazil and Argentina were considered the best teams in this tournament. I picked Argentina to win it all. I would put most of the blame to the coaches.
Brazil - Because the coach stuck with fat Ronaldo, they finally met their match and lost to France who were the better team. Brazil relies on their individual player's talent. Clearly, Ronaldo was not fit for this tournament and in important games, one player's brilliance can get you that win. The coach payed to the price for not choosing the best player to play. Also, it is the coach's responsibility to make the team play together as a team. He failed to make that happen. Terrible coach in my opinion.
Argentina - This is really sad because they had an awesome team playing well together. But because the coach decided to defend their 1-0 lead against Germany, they lost a golden opportunity for their 3rd WC. A classic soccer lesson to be taught to young players AND coaches. Don't rely on 1-0 lead. That kind of playing kills the game and kill your own chances to win. Besides, Argentina is an offensive team. They are not Italy. When the coach tried to make them defensive and took out Riquelme and refused to put in Messi or Saviola, they lost the control of the game and let Germany come back. This coach just didn't have the guts to win the WC.

Because they are both overrated. Both got beaten fair&square by europeans top nations.

Brazil played poorly throughout the tournament; probably overrated, in particular Ronaldinho can be considered the biggest disappointment of the WC.
Argentina was deemed by the terrible decisions of its coach one step away from victory

Brazil: they had no playmaker. They failed to cut off passes to Zidane
Argentina: they fell on their head and forgot the system that make them win so far.

Argentina had a good team and a good coach, just were unfortunate to play Germany, especially in penalties.
Brazil was overhyped to begin with. On top of that ,their coach relied on Ronaldo somehow scoring despite a lack of form and service.

Because Blatt is an european, and they don't want south american win.
In fact, they probably want to keep brazil (and make it lose in final, like in 1998), so they get out argentina. However, brazil failed them.

Before this WC, FIFA stated that it would "restore the rightfull order".
The Japan/Korea WC had a Semi-final that included Korea and Turkey, and only one Euro side.
This one won't even have Brazil.
Look at the officiating? Is there any surprise that the remaining teams are all Euro? None.
I am afraid the WC will divide into Europe and Non-Europe contests. If we are still all arround for South Africa, wanna bet against the semi finals with just one Euro team, like 2002? No? Thought so.

If you really looked carefully at the game today between France and Brazil you would have noticed that the match was not lost due to lack of individual skills or a fat Ronaldo.
I think it was quite obvious that the main difference was France working much better as a team all over the pitch, and unlike the Brazilians then the French attacking players were also doing their part to help defend when it was needed. To be honest Brazil has looked like unprepared disorganized individuals from the very start of this tournament. In this match they were at times just outplayed because they faced an excellent opponent.. and I may add that I besides Denmark usually support Brazil at the WC's..

Argentina, arguably the best team in the Cup, lost out to the usual German efficiency.
Brazil lost to Zinedine Zidane, he alone took the French team to higher stratus. Imagine that, eight years later, he does it to them again.

Football is very close among the top nations. Other than Ukraine, which didn't really belong, all the quarterfinals were all very close, and they could have gone either way. In today's football I'd say that for the top teams it is reasonable to expect that they make it to at least the quarterfinals. Less than that is a failure. After the quarters anything can happen, because the top powers are very evenly matched.
Argentina's loss to the home team in pk's is not really a shocker, but it feels like a failure because they had it won and lost it in the last ten minutes. The inexperience of coach Pekerman showed in his substitutions and is partly to blame. But rather than blame our players and coach, I prefer to give credit to the Germans, because they usually come through when their backs are against the wall. It is not the first time. And give credit to Lehman in particular, for his poise and expertise in stopping penalty shots.
As far as Brazil, the loss to France is a bit more of a surprise, but Brazil never got out of low gear in the whole tournament, and when they finally got challenged, they couldn't respond. And we have to recognize Zinedine Zidane, who appeared in all his glory.
When the likes of Riquelme and Ronaldinho never got rolling, Zidane did. And there, perhaps is the main reason why we failed.

Oh please, move from here with that BULL!
Explain to me the officiating situation in the Argentina/Germany game and the France/Brazil game.
Argentina played tough, and unfortunately had to exist on PK's.....no bias, they just lost simple.
Brazil was outplayed end of story.
What role did the officials have in sending these 2 teams home???

No self respecting Argentine will blame the refs for our exit. FIFA didn't score a goal with ten minutes left, and FIFA didn't stop two of our penalties. We had it within grasp, and we lost it. I really thought that if we got past Germany we could win it all.
Give credit to the Germans.

Referee`s just were not good enough. Whatta shame.
Weather. Either it was to hot or to cold or to much humidity. Completely Scandal!
Ball. God damn, that ball was just made to make players think they can score from far distance - and then FIFA changed the inside of the balls. Investigations still running on that case.
Goals. You saw that the goals where moving 3-4 cm on each shot? Illuminates. Holy Shit!
Linesman. They where showing the back to brasil and asstina all game long. Made some of the bisexuell ;);) brasilians horny and all of asstina`s players to aggressive. SCANDAL!
Women. Brasils where scared of the ugly women in germany. Asstina`s team was scared of their big backsides. Made them kinda agressive.
Food. Way to much meat for brasilian players. Not enough meet for Asstina`s players.
Cars. Brasilian players where afraid of how fast the cars moved on german Autobahn (highway). Made them scared. Asstina`s players went agressive cause they just saw the backsides of the cars. Made them wanted to punch them like Sissys.
Language. Holy shit, they speak german in germany! Frickenfrackenfrunkenstoned!!!
Stamps. You have to lick the backside of them when writing back home. Made brasilians miss their wifes 2 much. Asstina`s players just went to agressive from licking backsides. Dammit!
Lawn. Lawn came from holland. Made brasilian players think on netherland weed to much. Made Asstina`s players agressive cause they couldnt see the backside of it.
Atmosphere. Way to loud. Made the brasilians think they are on a Samba concert and made the Asstina players way to agressive.
Daylight saving time. Made the brasilians confused. Asstina went to agressive of that.
Wind. Not enough/ to much wind inside the stadiums.
German beer. Made the brasilians lame. Asstina went to agressive. SCANDAL!

What are you talking about? they lost because of their coaches. If messi played and riquelme stayed, they'ed be training for the semis right now. and you know it. If my star wars dvd coached brazil instead of parreira, they also would be training for the semis.

exactly, Argentina lost because there coach wanted to hold on to a 1-0 and Brasil lost because they relied on there old players instead of taking the moto of out with old, in with new approach, dont worry though as the next two world cups will be outside of Europe and we all know how they do outside and Brasil and Argentina atleast knows how to win outside South America
