Lampard and Gerrard both screw up. How? Why? WTF? How can two of England's best miss penalties?

Carragher kicks his penalty softer than my lil' sister could...

Sven subs off Joe Cole.

Next World Cup held in a hot climate where England cannot do well.

Well, I think all I can say is that this team has gone as far as it can with a shite manager.

You just need to look at their faces to know that they are going to miss the penalities. And the next world cup will be held in winter.

For once, the manager wasn't to blame today. They played a team that they were slightly better than. Lampard missed a wide open volley (he could have actually trapped) in the first half and Rooney whiffed on a ball placed on a platter for him by Lennon before Joe Cole skied it over.

England were the better team before Rooney got sent off, and Sven can certainly not be blamed for that. Sven is a muppet but anyone who thinks he lost this game is off the plot. The right lineup was out there but the players didn't produce.

I actually think Sven and McClaren got the post-send off tactics spot on with Crouch holding up the ball and everyone else sitting behind waiting to pour forward on good opportunities.

This one is on the players. Its time for Gerrard and Lampard to step up and admit they didn't produce this tournament, especially the latter.

Have to disagree. Taking out J. Cole and Lennon wasn't a good idea.

Sven should have taken off Lampard earlier. He was a disgrace.

Lennon should have been in the lineup from the start.

Its a close call, and I tend to agree with you, but its really half a dozen one way six the other. Lennon has absolutley NO end product in this game at this point, and while he is significantly more dangerous on the ball then Beckham we can't forget Beckham's contributions on set pieces this tournament.

For me Lennon not starting isn't a shocking decision and certainly isn't the reason England crashed out today.

As to the Joe Cole sub, who would you have preferred? You can make the case for Lampard, but Cole hadn't exactly been having a stormer and easily was the least disciplined of the midfielders in the game.

Crouch was the correct inclusion as he started attacks well and you can make a fairly strong case that England looked the more likely to score after his arrival even down a man.

The 2 happiest managers knocked out of the world cup = Sven Goran Erikson and Ricardo Lavolpe (Mexico). Both took down fortunes for coaching their teams, both didn't do _______.

England can blame the loss on

1. Rooney Assaulting Carvalho: Should have seen Rooney taken away by cops, not just given a red card! Carvalho's wife must be in tears the guy probably won't be able to have children after that massacre by Rooney on Carvalho's manhood!

2. Sven Goran Eriksson: Somehow made a fortune from England by doing absolutely ______. This was one of the biggest robberies ever. England was robbed by a quiet, no emotion Swede. I can't believe he substituted Joe Cole, Englands most creative player.

3. Lampard: The worlds most overrated player..after Beckham.

other than sven, who actually rates Beckham these days? He's been seen as a liability for a long time.

Lampard is a very very good player, but his confidence is shot after missing so many chances. And there's that perennial problem that he and Gerrard don't really work when put together.
