England's stars fizzling in the big games is becoming an oxymoronic phrase....sigh.

Finally, we can blame someone for killing a match more than Sven.... the ref!

Wow. Ricardo had a GK's dream penalty shoot-out.

England? Ya gotta make yer shots.

0-3 in shoot-outs in WC history.

Bummer.

Can't imagine this winning team having any fans other than the Portugeezers themselves. Anyone care to point the error in my thinking? Non-Portugese fans of Portugal's NT, please step forward.

I have to admit that I hated that fake fan wearing the red kit on American tv. On American television, they kept cutting away to a camera at some pub in Wimbledon and every time they showed that fake fan it was infuriating.

Balboa made a credible statement..

Rooney devalued the effort; and the Manager takes responsibility for playing someone that obviously has a conflict within, and devalues without..

Let's hope that more representatives of The Beautiful Game (each one of us) show more valuable, ethical conduct Now and onward..

portugal's inability to break down england was getting irritating to the point where I actually wanted england to go through, at least lennon was doing something.

congrats portugal.

Portugal has good goalkeeper, though I hate him, he saved like 4 penalties. England has been knocked out by Portugal yet again. But hey, at least I think Portugal will give a match agains Brazil since England have absolutely no strikers left. Poor England, at least they fought till the end knowing how handicapped they are when Rooney was sent off.

You can never say anything about Ricardo ever again. Ricardo is a hero and he showed guts and b_ _ _ _. Ricardo was downright incredible and heroic.

I'm sure there are many. Including me. And this thread is not getting into a back and forth.

I don't think that Portugal's style of play is particularly attractive. I don't think there are a lot of non-portugese fans of Portugal's national side. I for one can't take the poor sportsmanship. Is it any surprise that the Dutch and the English both went red card crazy against the Portugese? Frankly, I think the Portugese are tricky and teams usually fall for it and get carded retaliating.
