....and the Germans win a penalty shoot-out.......hope to heck England have been practicing penalties for some time, unlike previous regimes..."ya can''t practice penalties" mentality.....try tellin' the Germans who haven't lost a P.K. shootout in almost 40 fcukin' years.....they NEVER side foot a P.K. in a shootout....start their runs from outside the box....blast the fcuking thing into the corners....every fcuking time.....wanna know why...?? they practice the fcukin' things all the fcukin' time....

....watching the game with my son...and as soon as the first Argie missed I told him they best start checking flights to Buenas Aires....cos' their gonna be on the next one...

....remember this quote from the Times...."Not only had David Batty NEVER taken a penalty in his life.....he had NEVER even practiced taking one".....I know....lets have the fcuk take the 5th one in a fcukin' world cup...!! forget the faith healer and the "handicapped are suffering for sins commited in another life" crap....Hoddle shoulda been fired for the penalty fcuk up right there.....

...The Germans figured out....Oh so long ago... that penalties are part of the knock out phase....right or wrong ...they just are....and so....THEY PRACTICE THEM ALL THE TIME......can only hope England are finally doing the same thing.

surprisingly, yes they are practicing them this time round.

Unsurprisingly, you still get to here the likes of Terry Venables saying it's pointless to practice them as you can't recreate the tension, and have not a single person disagree with him, or even ask if perhaps that belief is a factor in he, and England, having a poor penalty record.

Mind you, he is on ITV, and as usual the ITV panel has all the substance of candy floss.

Typical Germans, they still take penalties like fecking robots.

I'm sure even if we practise them it would be hard to get them flawless, it's a lifetime long thing and a few weeks won't get it right. Although any kind of practise is better than no practise.

No one is beating Germany on penalties this time. So Italy better try hard to win it in 90 minutes or extra time.

England have tried El Tels approach before.....and have lost 4 of the last 5 p.k. shootouts doing it....twice to the Germans....seems like someone other than Sir Clive Woodward would be asking..."Look we've tried the you can't practice pk's bit and it doesn't work....couldn't but help to practice em doncha think".....

I think Clive Woodward coached Chris Waddle on penalty technique.

they weren't....El Tel is wrong....and England are out of a major tournament because they've lost 4 p.k. shootouts in a fcuking row.....and the only player who made one happens to have played for six fcukling years in GERMANY....where they practice p.k's every fcuking day....not just a couple of days prior to a major tournament.....makes me fcuking sick.

i agree that venables is talking crap when he said its no good practising penalties..tell that to the germans..who dont regard taking a penalty has a chance to score but...as a certain goal. The old saying is practice makes perfect..but the england players would rather be on the frigging golf course.
