I have listened to so much whining this world cup over refs that I am sick of hearing it. These guys are only human, they are deciding things in live time, and do not have the benefit of vid replay. So its almost guarented that there is going to be bad calls in the course of 90 min game.

I think its time to implement vid replay, but the same way they do it in American football. Where the coach gets a certian amount of challenges (2 max, but Id perfer just one each). Each challenge used would add an extra 2 mins of time to the half where the ref can evaluate the play in question with the vid replay.

I don't think that it would really slow the game down too much if the challenges are limited. Hopefully then everyone with stop bitching at the refs (well at least not as much).

Instant replay might help in a few cases. BUT Consider:

For Example. After 10 viewings of the last 15 seconds of Italy-Australia, the Aussies will still be claiming DIVE, and the Italians will still be claiming PK!

In the last 30 sec of 1H Ghana-US, Ghana would still be calling for a foul/PK, US would still be calling no-foul.

DeRossi, Mastroeni, and Pope would still have their RED cards.

as a fairly neautral I think there has been more mistakes than ever.

I have often thought the refs were wrong while watching the run of play, but then after seeing the replay I could see that the refs were usually correct.

Still, there have been, and always will be incorrect calls.

Instituting replay, however, would be a fiasco. It already is in the NFL (IMHO) and that game is made for stopping and standing around.

At least we haven't seen any terrible Schumacher or Hand of God esque mistakes.
