No news on the AEG/MLS situation - just Glenn adding that he thinks it's likely that the team will move.
His column in today's Chron covers some of the same ground:
City nudges ever closer to landing an A-list team (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3525962)
The interview with Mooch was sorta interesting - pretty accurate summary in the responses here (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278956).

The Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis radio show normally airs at 9:00 pm on Wednesdays on ESPN 790 AM. This week, the show will air on Tuesday, Jan. 3 instead.
ESPN 790 is apparently carrying some sort of college football game involving some team from Austin or something during the usual Wednesday night time slot. ;)
The show streams online and you can listen by clicking on the Listen Live button here (http://www.790kbme.com/glenndavis.html).
The Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis on 790 AM will air at 9 p.m. Tuesday and feature InterLiga interviews and ticket giveaways. Call-ins are welcome at 713-212-5790.

I wonder if the call-in questions will be taken only by Glenn after the Oliver Luck interview or 'with' where fans can ask directly to Luck? I haven't listened to Glenn in a while, but don't recall questions directly to the guest, but then again maybe that was due to technical difficulties of remote guests. I am assuming Oliver will be in the studio since he lives here in Houston.

I bet that Oliver Luck will not be taking any questions from listeners. They will probably be from Glenn. The good thing about Glenn is he thinks a lot like the hard core soccer fan. He absolutely HATES the field turf plan.
If you want a question to be answered by Glenn, you can email him at gdavis98@swbell.com

Well, my streaming wasn't the most stable thing but here's the highlights as it pertains to Houston MLS. Some of this isn't exactly ground-breaking but someone may not be aware of it.
1) The names getting the most votes are Apollos, Generals, Stallions, Lonestars, Houston 1836. Pretty much said it would be one of those and the leading vote getter wouldn't necessarily be the choice (I'm using some personal inference from what Luck actually said)
2)In regards to Field Turf...grass would have been a deal breaker. He did say, and I'm quoting, "every effort to present pitch that looks like soccer not football" but he also said he wouldn't make any promises. In other words, I'm scared.
3) 85%-90% of front office will be local hires. Interviewing this week and moving into downtown offices by end of next week.
4) Over 1,000 deposits have been received thus far for season tickets but he mentioned the actual number of season tickets was higher as one $50 deposit can be used to request multiple season tickets.
5) Giving free reign to Dom and his staff in regards to the players and that included in acquisition it seemed as well.
6) Getting a SSS is a priority (is not looking for taxpayer money) but it will not be addressed much for first 4-6 months. Main priority is launching the team, making it successful, and making money to make the team attractive to local investors.
7) Jan 12th will be the day that the name and colors are announced.
I think that's it. Oh Glenn did mention the supporter's meeting at Richmond Arm's. Could be a decent group there...we might need to warn them.

I listened too. Looks like a good description above on the Luck interview.
My observations:
I think the name will be Houston 1836, Oliver spent more time on that name and explaining what it meant.
I think the Field Turf situation will be fine. I came away thinking it will be good quality FT and that it would not have perminent grid iron lines on it.
He said colors would be different. I hope we see orange!
Anyway, that's what I heard.

Good recap Dre00. Thanks.
From the interview I've got some concerns about:
-possible names 60% of the five he mentioned are complete turkeys
-football lines overlayed with soccer lines
I wish the caller regarding the season tickets would have chimed in about the b.s. about MLS using ticketmaster for season tix reservations and the per tickets charges for reservations.
In the future I don't think Luck/MLS Houston should get such a hall pass on the interviews. But I understand he has just been in the job a couple weeks and we are all still in the honeymoon...at least until the team name comes out.

Couldn't listen to it last night, I had to get three little indians bathed, and put to bed.
It would be great if someone could provide a link where we could download the broadcast to some media player. A couple of FCD fans regulraly do this for FCD fan / soccer radio show broadcasts and it's great to listen to while your at work.
Anybody know how to do this?

I don't think ESPN 790 archives shows. When Glenn's show was on Pacifica 90.1, you could listen later because they archive.
...
Just a couple of other tidbits:
Luck also mentioned that he thinks the front office staff will have three or four language capabilities so that they can market to the Asian communities, as well as the Hispanic communities.
He also mentioned Carson, Bridgeview, and Harrison as the examples of how they'll pursue the new venue (although he also emphasized that a school district will probably be involved).

Though the Asian community is not as big as say California, 10%, Texas has 2.7% and Houston has about 5.1%. But always good to see the work on building the community outreach.
(although he also emphasized that a school district will probably be involved).
Frisco is their model.

ESPN 790 will carry the Rice v UH men's basketball game tonight at 7:00 pm, so Glenn's show will probably start a little late.
ESPN 790 obviously hates soccer. :D
