Michelle and I are finally getting back to real life after 2 fantastic weeks in Germany. I want to say thanks to all the Brucesliga buyers we met on our travels. Everytime I saw a Brucesliga shirt or scarf I tried to stop and say hello, and get my picture taken too when possible (a couple of shots are below). If you had a shirt or scarf, I hope you got as much enjoyment out of wearing them as I did seeing them all over the place. I felt like a proud papa out there.

Now to come up with a good idea for South Africa. . . . .

Rick

p.s., if you have some good photos with the Brucesliga gear, I would love a copy if you wouldn't mind.

And thanks to you! We had half a dozen Germans come up and take multiple pictures of the logos. They loved 'em!

In every town the team played in they always got good reviews because of the local clubs logo. Beautiful idea.

Great job on them, they were a HUGE hit--many Germans took a lot of time to really check them out and have their pictures taken with them. Also, my friend was able to trade his for a Germany kit.

We also had many locals take pictures, etc. The best quote was "no, I don't need your face to be in the picture." Rick, you could have sold thousands of them on game day. Thanks again for making the shirts happen!

(Although after the Czech game we were tempted to put masking tape over the "Bruce" part of "Brucesliga".)

LOVED the shirt! A security guard asked me if the "Bruce" was for Bruce Springstein

If ya didn't get a shirt and are coming to the MLS Cup, there will be one in the Silent Auction the night before at the Supporters' Summit!

Should I autograph it? ;)

Now I need to make plans to come to MLS Cup just to see how much it goes for!

H-U-G-E hit in Germany mate!!! Amazing job. Had plenty of Germans asking about it.

My wife cannot wash her now. We met the entire Chicago Fire team at O'hare airport the day of our departure and she had them sign it. She even had the b-lls to say "We are going to the World Cup. One day, you will play for the National Team as well". She meant it with all the enthusiasm of an over-zealous National Team support and Fire fan, but to say that to Chris Armas.... I nearly stopped her in mid-sentence. Armas was totally cool about it.

Anyways, your wife (?) and you did a phenomonal job and it even made national/local news in the States (not sure if you were aware of this), when a story read "US fans decked out in red/white/blud, and Bruceliga Shirts (named after the head coach and a play on the German Bundesliga) were in full force in Gelsenkirchen". I read this 3 days before we left, proud as hell that I had one!

Way to go man!!!

By the way, I think you were one or two rows from me at Kaiserslautern. Not sure, but once I get some pictures from that match develop, I will send them on. Can someone "host" some pics? Or should I PM or email them in digital format?

I lost all my photos from K-town, when I left our camera at the bar at the trian station. Didn't realize I left it behind until we were back in Stuttgart. Damn. Whatever you have I would love to get copies of if that is possible.

Thanks for the info about the news coverage. I was not aware of that.

Thanks for that. I also found this from the Fort Worth paper:

"Big Jake bought his T-shirt online. It's a red one that liberally rips off the corporate logos of four big-time Germany soccer institutions -- the nation's major league, the Bundesliga, and the three club teams that are based in the three towns where Team USA is scheduled to play.

As a tribute to coach Bruce Arena, the front of the red shirt reads "Brucesliga 06."

I am a fan from germany and saw some people with the Brucesliga shirt (at the Ghana game in Nuremberg), I loved them :)

Is it still possible to buy a shirt ? This would be a great souvenir.

I think I may have a pic of 4 guys walking down the street in K-town with Brucesliga shirts it was the street that you would walk down if you walked out of the train station and just kept walking straight... I'll post it later if you can see the gear..

we camped in front of a little cafe beside the police station in still pretty much infront of the train station and I talked to a guy in a Brucesliga shirt for a while that was just before I tried to help Elvis figure out where the red white and brew party was located! we lucked out on finding those chairs we had beer, shade, comfy chairs, cheap tastey food and a constant stream of people leaving the train station headed towards the fan fest and the stadium

Yikes! You never know when the guy you're speaking with is a reporter! (Just kidding!) Actually, the real hero was Chris with the brews. "Chris Casey would have been on an earlier one. But in the true spirit of the World Cup, he missed his train because he left the station to buy more beer. Now he's sitting by himself, dispensing Krombachers and Beck's to strangers from a paper bag." Also, the German guy opening them all for us!
