That's a real surprise in my eyes:

He'll fix that defense, that's for sure. Wonder how he'll get along with Marcelinho though???

What a downgrade for such a high-profile coach...

Hey, it's not like you guys were such a "hot address" when he took over there! Your recent success is arguably largely the product of the groundwork he laid there. Maybe Wolfsburg is hoping lightning will strike twice.
I was going to say and maybe he wanted the challenge, but I'm certain VW is making this worth his while.

Probably giving him a VW dealership somewhere.

More like a nice, guaranteed contract with some cold, hard cash on the side. :D

We weren't a big team when he took us over, but Bayern sure as hell was!
Wolfsburg can hope what they want, i'm just surprised that after years of working with struggling clubs and after finally coaching Germany's biggest side and winning two titles and two German cups, he's now willing to take a step backwards and start working for the average teams again.
What's also strange is that he's become Sportdirector. If there was one major flaw with Magath as a coach, it is his failure in the Transfer Market. At Stuttgart, the only slight problem with him was that none of the players he bought ever ended up being any good besides Lahm and Cacau(and Cacau shouldn't count since he only started playing well once Magath left). At Bayern, the main problem this season for them was Magath's and the management's failure to get adequate replacements for their high profile departure. They should've gotten a big name to replace Ballack, which they didn't, and that's the main reason why so many Bayern fans and the management started to trust him less and dislike him more.
I would've thought Magath's next job would be as COACH of one of the top 6-7 BL teams. Not a behind the scenes job at the BL's official grey mouse. VW must've paid him alot.

And as a "compensation" the company will lay off a few hundreds of workers soon... ;)

Apparently 4 million a year, that's almost twice as much as the made at Bayern.

Not only the salary is high.
VW put in the last years about 100 million € into the club
(ok, 26.5 million € of it was for the new stadium) and
if they continue their payments Magath can do some moves
on the transfermarket.
Interseting job for Magath, but he is damned to have sucess.

I'm really curious how many titles he'll win:-)
Have a nice day.

Ashkan Dejagah from Hertha and Daniel Baier from 1860 join the club. TOLH, is Dejagah any good?

Guys, with all these young midfielders Magath is snapping up, do any of you think that means he's not sold on the Romanians?
After all, he didn't buy them, right??

Hmm I read they're also interested in Leon Andreasen. Apparently Bremen are not willing to sell him to Schalke.

Could be, footy. Neither are that young. Depends on where he plans on playing Baier and Dejagah. Could be wrong, but I don't think either are of the defensive mind-set and with Marcelinho you are looking at the Right as the spot to play them... unless he sees them spending some time up front. Perhaps Riether is that defensive mid... Definately makes the Romanians seem to be simply squad players, though.

I think a bit overrated, but he's pretty good for a 21 year older.
