I certainly CAN count....when the little tyke's old enough to think for himself, he'll naturally become a Bayern fan....;)
Don't flatter yourself. If I wanted him to be a glory hunter I'd be decking him out in Man U or Barcelona gear.

Well, it is funny how that stadium in Wolfsburg suddenly started selling out this season, isn't it????
Wolfsburg is a club whose stadium ONLY holds 30,000, yet it only sold out three times last season. Against Dortmund, HSV and Bayern, all three being clubs who have a superb nationwide following.
Even this season, your championship season, after selling out again against HSV on the 3rd match day of the season (2nd match at Wolfsburg), you guys didn't sell out again until the 24th match day against Schalke. The next match against Bayern was the first time you guys had consecutive sell-outs the entire season. Hell, it was the first time over both seasons.
And even the next match after Bayern (against Leverkusen) didn't fully sell out!
That stadium didn't start to consistently sell out until it was clear you guys were contenders for the title and even with that, you sold out a total of six out of seventeen home matches during a championship season with a stadium that only holds 30,000 people.
So while you may not be a "glory hunter" yourself, aren't your comments still a grand example of "the pot calling the kettle black"???
VfL Wolfsburg is as "plastic" as they come. I actually hate that term myself because this is the direction football is going and clubs like VfL are going to be the norm rather than the exception in the next few years. But in VfL's case, it is also true.
So being a VfL fan, who are you to sit and call anyone else "glory hunters" when the best example of "glory hunters" in Germany this season is your own club whether you are one or not???
Wolfsburg fans came out of the woodwork like cockroaches this season!
Can you deny this??
I am a fan of Man U. and Barca myself and yes, you can tell I took your comments personally.
But instead of JUST railing at you like some others, I present facts in my railing at you! LOL!! :-)
As far as me and Man U. and Barca, I have PERSONAL reasons for liking each club. I am not a "glory hunter". I don't cheer for someone because they win all the time. If that were the case, I'd be a Bayern and Inter fan too.
I don't like Bayern myself, but I know that not all of their fans are "glory hunters". Many of them are, but not all of them. You can find some "true" Bayern fans if you look hard enough. Hell, there are even some here at BigSoccer! ;-)
For me to be into a team, I either have to have lived near them and frequented their games (in my case, Nuernberg and 1860 Munich fall into this category), have friends or family who got me into them and took me to games (in my case, Barcelona/my cousin and a friend), or have met their fans personally, hung out with them and got into their club that way (Man U./friends who were into them, met fans during CL meetings with BVB and Bayern + was a huge Eric Cantona fan.)
With that, I can still see using Man U. for a "glory hunter" example. But a better one in England is Chelsea.
I can't see using Barcelona. To be as big as it is, that club is as "pure" as they come.
I think a better example would have been Real Madrid.
Even then, one of their fans could have made the same argument I did.
You know what they say about those who live in glass houses...... ;)

that doesn't make VfL fans glory hunters. it makes them fickle. or fairweather fans.
glory hunters are front runners. they follow a team not because they have any connection to the team or the area, but because they know that the team has a decent chance of winning a lot and they only want to root for winners.
bayern, man u and barca all fall into that category.
as you mentioned, so do chelsea, real madrid and inter.
of course, there are true fans of those teams, but there are a large number of glory hunters in their ranks

Where's the the difference between "Fair-Weather Fan" and "Glory Hunter?"
glory hunters are front runners. they follow a team not because they have any connection to the team or the area, but because they know that the team has a decent chance of winning a lot and they only want to root for winners.
A team is average, they can usually barely come within 10,000 of filling a just 30,000 seat stadium.
They start winning and fans come out of the woodwork. Not just there, but everywhere.
Tell me, what's the difference??
bayern, man u and barca all fall into that category.
as you mentioned, so do chelsea, real madrid and inter.
And who are you to label them that? All three have stadiums two and three times the size of VfL and they usually fill them even when they aren't winning titles.
Any team who has ever won something will have its share of "glory-hunters".
INCLUDING VFL WOLFSBURG! -
of course, there are true fans of those teams, but there are a large number of glory hunters in their ranks
That can be said of most clubs who have won anything in their time, including my favorite club, Dortmund. I know we have "glory hunters". I tell them to STFU every day when they start crying about not having any "stars" on the team anymore.
But guess what? We also draw 65,000+ even when we're losing.
You guys have your share of glory-hunters too. Just because they might live in Wolfsburg doesn't make them "glory hunters" any less.
I'd say the same thing about a Dortmund citizen who doesn't go to Westfalenstadion unless we're winning.
And I know a few of them. They may live in Dortmund, but they're "glory-hunters."
If you weren't seen at that stadium before it was apparent that team was going to win something, then you're a "glory-hunter."
From where I sit, "Fickle" fans go and get frustrated.
"Fair-weather fan" is just another term for "glory hunter."

Glory hunters support teams that win and will shift with the wins. "I'm a Man United fan" then a few years later... "i'm Chelsea fan".... then a few years later "i'm a West Ham Fan" (okay I can dream)
Fair-weather - when the team they like is doing well, they will go out and support them. "hey Wolfsburg is winning the league, I like them, but haven't been to a game in 4 years - I'll go to a few games this season"

Dear Footyfan1,
I'm sorry that I seem to have hit a nerve with you. But unfortunately the term 'people living in glass houses...' does not apply here. Let me explain. You can have all your excuses and reasons for supporting Man U and Barcelona, but the bottom line is, these are two clubs that are consistently in the running for a title. These are two clubs in two countries with hundreds of other clubs. You could pick any other club to support, and yet you choose to support the ones that are likely to win. What connection do you have to ManU? Was your grandfather from Manchester? What connection do you have to Barca? Is your mother Catalan? My guess is that you simply follow these clubs because they play good fussball and can be found on TV. But compared to me, you are a 'glory hunter', whether you like it or not. You see, I support three $h!tty clubs. New York Red Bulls are my home team, and are complete garbage. Karpaty Lviv I was born into, and they are pure crap. And Wolfsburg I started following when our local Jersey boy Claudio Reyna dressed up in the green kit. I could have for all intents and purposes picked a more traditional club like Bayern to support and watch them on TV almost every week. But no, I chose a team who's relegation battle I had to follow on German internet radio, and I speak no German whatsoever! So please don't give me the whole load of crap that as a VfL fan I'm a glory hunter. Nothing can be farther from the truth. You on the other hand, well I think I already stated my opinion.

Where's the the difference between "Fair-Weather Fan" and "Glory Hunter?"
a fair weather fan is one who claims to liek the team, but only shows up when they are winning. they only come out for the "fair weather"
a glory hunter is someone who chooses a team to support based on the fact that they are consistently in the running for the title.
there is a clear difference between the 2. i doubt you could call any VfL fan a glory hunter, as they have never even come close to winnign the title before (and were even in 9th place at the half way point.
And who are you to label them that? All three have stadiums two and three times the size of VfL and they usually fill them even when they aren't winning titles.
Any team who has ever won something will have its share of "glory-hunters".

they fill them when they aren't winning titles because these teams are almost always in contention to win the title. or at the very least they will be the following year. VfL has never been in contention before this year and wasn't considered by many to even have had a chance until just a few weeks ago.

As a non-fair-weathered Bayern fan (oxymoron, I know! ;)), I would like to take the opportunity to say CONGRATULATIONS on a well-deserved and overdue Bundesliga title for Felix Magath's talented Wolfsburg side.
Well done. I hope that some semblance of the team stays in place for the next coach (Veh?), and that their current form continues. The Bundesliga was a much more interesting race do to many teams this past season, but none moreso than Wolfsburg.
Again, Congratulations!

I always knew I was a Glory Hunter!
Getting my German Professor to call up the Wolfsburg shop back in 97 to use his German banking account to get me a kit because the team store didn't accept US Credit cards, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Headint to a sports bar watching Wolfsburg lose to K-town but mathmatically avoid relgation in their 1st year, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Flying to Wolfsburg in 99, to watch them beat up then champs Kaiserlautern and then beat Frankfurt away, I knew I was Glory Hunter.
Hosting my friend from Wolfsburg in 2000 and taking him to the MLS Cup final in DC, I knew HE was a glory hunter......(only coming over for the Championship)
Following almost every game online except for the Bayern games because they are never shown on TV, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Listening to the Relegation match against Kaiserlautern in 06 on the internet and shouting TOOOR when Makiadi and then Klimowicz scored to stay up, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Travelling to Wolfsburg after the USA got knocked out in the World Cup, to visit the new stadium, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Following the match tracker of the 2nd to last game a season later vs Aachen and jumping up and down when they scored two late goals to tie and stay up, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Signing up online and paying for WoelfeTV so I can watch every game now, I knew I was a Glory Hunter.
Watching them win the Bundesliga title Saturday, I now am a Glory Hunter. I think I need a new team.

Who's gives a shit? Seriously, who gives a flipping shit?
Enjoy the game for what it is. I love the "small club" arrogance of some football fans.
I bet no one thinks you're a bandwaggoner, and you like it don't you? I would like it too if people would stop questioning my love for footy or for the club.

Go back and read my message again. I could have sworn I said at least three times in that message that I did not consider YOU a "glory-hunter", but pointed out that like the clubs you mentioned, VfL has its share of "glory-hunters", including those who live in Wolfsburg who didn't come out to support the club until it was apparent they were going to win something.
I said you weren't one at least twice in that message.
I even pointed out that there are indeed people who were there before the success became imminent.
But all you saw was that I said something that pissed you off and apparently nothing else that was said with it.
Oh well, such is life. Be angry.
All the best on the title. Believe it or not, I'm happy about that because I believe we are on the eve of another round of Bayern domination.
As far as what you said about me and Man U. and Barca, what the f#ck ever. I explained how I became a fan of the two clubs and I wasn't looking for your approval, but I thought I would try to explain where I'm coming from.
Apparently, you completely ignored that because I pissed you off.
Such is life. I don't show many people that courtesy, but I wanted to show you that I was not just trying to "rail" at you.
Oh well, last time I do that.
Again, congratulations and all the best in the CL next season.

Whoa whoa... relax dude. I'm not pissed at all, on the contrary I'm very happy! Listen, I get what you're saying even though I don't agree with it. Your explanation is that of a fair weather fan, as in those fans who don't necessarily follow the team until it starts winning. And let me take it back, you're not a glory hunter, you have your reasons for supporting Man U and Barca and that's your choice. So let's all play nice and get along. Thomas Kahlenberg (http://www.vflwolfsburg.de/50543+M5f3b2b0296e.html) from Denmark.
I remember Kahlenberg from a youth tournament a couple of years back. He absolutely tore it up but never really made a move to a big club afterwards, always wondered when he would.
