Wolfsburg would be much more bearable if it had the, em, rustic charme of Gelsenkirchen. It's ugly AND middle class... come on, that ain't no good combination :D.
Gelsenkirchen is ugly and low class! That definitely ain't no good combination! LOL!! :D
But, the stadium is nice, so maybe Felix can live there.......

Figures. What a great timing for the announcement. 4 matches left and now we know he's leaving. They could have at least held off until the season finished.

I think the speculation would have hurt the team more than actually knowing.
There's no distraction. They can decide to win it for him if they want.
Knowing now could be a motivational factor.

Or In spite of him, or for themselves, or for the fans....... either way, ending the speculation one way or another I think is a good thing.

Wolfsburg's main sight is a car production theme park. And I'm not sarcastic or anything, if you go to their website and click on sights, they list that and the local waterpark as top attractions. The city was build in the 1950s, and it somewhat shows.
I liked the Autostadt and the tour of the VW factory. If you are an automobile lover, Wolfsburg I think is a good destination for a trip.

Or it could work in the total opposite way.

Of course. Sitting here assuming it will go any way is stupid.
Which is why I used the word COULD.......

I am not disputing that, bro. :D
I am just saying that hypothetically if I were in Dzekos', Misimovic's, etc. shoes it could very well motivate me ("let's win it, guys") or do the totall opp. "I can't believe this guy did us dirty like that".
Just my 2 Chilean pesos, though. :)

I fear I'm not - I don't even have a driver's license. Considering that even the fact that both my dad and my uncle have worked at VW for as long as I can remember didn't turn me into an automobile lover I'm probably a lost cause ;).

I could bet that Magath will take a few of his current players (i.e. Misimovic, Dzeko etc.) to Schalke next season! And I also bet that Schalke will make some € 100 million debts again soon...
Btw: According to Magath himself, he's gonna leave Wolfsburg because he expects to get fired next season (knowing that he can't top the current success). Well, he seems to have a lot of confidence in the VW board. :-))

Don't forget though that Gazprom is immune to debts ;)

Do we always have to state that we know there is another side of the story?
I'm sorry for assuming that was a given.
Plus, if you'd checked back, you would have seen that I was actually responding to someone who had given the other side of it.

Gazprom has a set amount they pay Schalke. They don't pay more.
The only club they "bankroll" is Zenit.

it's certainly on my list of cities to visit, and not just for the football team. then again, i'm a bit VW obsessed. (see screen name) :D

Schreklich!
That was a rough game to watch. Looked like they were trying to give it away. And Zaccardo.....he has to finish that chance. 2-2 game would have been a lot different ending....
End the day tied for first and losing 5 of the 7 goals you were up in Goal Difference.
Is the pressure getting to them??

Will this be a one year thing or does any of the long time fans think Wolfsburg will be able to be consistently up near top 4 or 5 of the Bundesliga even after their coach goes away?

I think it will depend on two things:
1) Where this team winds up in the standings after the final day:
There is a real possibility this team could drop out of the top three before this is all said and done.
Of course, they can also still win the title or finish in the top three. They do still control their own destiny.
Tonight's match against Borussia Dortmund will say a lot about where this team is going.
I think making the CL would keep many of these players in Wolfsburg for at least one more season and would make Wolfsburg attractive to some other players the club could use.
2) Who the new coach and managers are, if they aren't the same guy.
Whomever comes next need to work on keeping Dzeko, Misimovic, Schaefer and Grafite. Magath will probably start trying to talk some of these guys into joining him at Schalke after this season is over.
Despite everyone's anger at Magath for leaving, I think he's too much of a professional to try to lure these players now.
He wants to leave Wolfsburg as a champion.

Kicker is reporting here (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/508761/) that former VfB Stuttgart coach Armin Veh will follow Felix Magath and coach VfL Wolfsburg next season.
I like Veh, but I don't know that he's the guy for this situation.

5:0 away win in the derby against Hannover 96 (one of the best home teams) ... that's simply unbelievable!
Shall I already congratulate on the title? What a sensation that would be (despite the money spent during the last 2 seasons)...

so as long as bayern doesn't win their last game by a margin of 7 goals, then VfL really only need a tie in the last game, no?
maybe BigSoccer will start carrying VfL merch now?
