Is Magath using Schalke to get more power and money from Wolfsburg?
I can't see why he would want to walk away from his greatest work......
It sounds weird, indeed. But well, maybe he's pissed off by the VW away support...;)

Maybe he doesn't want to drive a VW anymore and they won't let him have an Audi. ;)

I hope the Dutch will get this job. There has been ugly rumors that Rangnick is a candidate, too.

If Magath is in fact leaving, better make sure they win it this year......
Looks like a press conference tomorrow to settle the matter (at least for now)

Unless he announces that he's staying I honestly can't see how that could be good for the club.

It scares and excites me since the Bundesliga will be more competitive and stronger, and I hope he turns them into a European force. We need more than "just Bayern" in champions league.
I do agree about the Bayern in the CL part as I want the Bundesliga as a whole becoming more respected by the world as a whole, not just for 1 team.

Have you ever been in Wolfsburg?
What exactly is bad about it? I have never been there as the 3 years I lived in Germany I was closer to Wurzburg. I like Wolfsburg, the football team. I am just curious as I know I heard there wasn't much to the city.

Magath has confirmed the Schalke thing, he signed a 4-year contract:

Wolfsburg's main sight is a car production theme park. And I'm not sarcastic or anything, if you go to their website and click on sights, they list that and the local waterpark as top attractions. The city was build in the 1950s, and it somewhat shows.

So, yeah, Magath leaves Wolfsburg at the end of the season.
Not the first time he has jumped ship like that. Same thing happened when he moved to Bayern, there were rumours about it three months in advance and it reallly affected the side in the last weeks. They dropped out of the CL spots on the last day. Hopefully, this'll affect the Wolfsburg side too. Though, with a chance of becoming German Champion, i'm guessing they'll still be focused enough.

Magath To Take Over At Schalke 04 - Confirmed
Story from Yahoo World Soccer In English (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=afp-fblgerwolfsburgmagath&prov=afp&type=lgns)
Story At Kicker.de In German (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/508249/)
Magath signed a contract with Schalke through 2013.
According to the "Kicker" article, even though Magath will have the same General Manager/Coach role he had at Wolfsburg, Schalke boss Clemens Tönnies confirmed they are interested in Stuttgart General Manager Horst Heldt for a role at Schalke.
They may drive Magath away as quickly as they got him....... ;)
EDIT: Oh, and there's already speculation that Juergen Klinsmann is on Wolfsburg's list! LOL!! :D

Heldt's a good manager.
I know you like to milk Basturk and some other mistakes, but fact is he playe a big role in making Champion out of nobodies.
Also, he won't join Schalke.

Responding at the Stuttgart thread.......
Magath is a hero. Such a great time to announce this. :D

True. Wolfsburg is ugly and has a really weird atmosphere but it's also pretty wealthy and acually there is a lot of things to do.
Gelsenkirchen is just ugly, broke and trashy as are the Gelsenkircher. Trust me, I know, my uncle lives right in the city center. :D

I'm guessing he wanted to kill all the speculation so his current players don't have to worry about it anymore.
They know he's leaving now. They can focus on giving him the title as a farewell gift and give themselves CL bonus money next season..... ;)

Although I think Magath did a fantastic job with VW, I'm glad to see his arrogant smerk gone from Club Das Auto.

Why? You'll just see his 'arrogant smirk' - if anyone in the Bundesliga, it's Magath who deserves to have one - at Schalke instead. Which probably means you'll see it more often. :)

He's just a face that makes me want to punch it. The glasses, the smirk, the whole look that he carries. I find it obnoxious.
At Schalke - doesn't matter as much, I hate them, so it will be fun to watch him implode. Maybe he won't, but its Schalke and imploding is a way of life.

Both have produced two of the best German heavy metal bands of the 80s each, though. I think there's a relation :D.

Wolfsburg would be much more bearable if it had the, em, rustic charme of Gelsenkirchen. It's ugly AND middle class... come on, that ain't no good combination :D.
