Congrats guys, fully deserved. You have as good a chance of winning the league as any of the other three teams.
Taking off Benaglio was quite a slap in the face though. I admit I smiled a bit but I did so shaking my head...
That was taking the piss, we'll definitely remember that one though. We'll play them again next season, we'll see what happens then.

Ah don't worry about that. That was just Felix taking a shot at his old club it was awesome, it's not often Bayern get bent over like that. Bayern deserved it on this day Magath is a genius, well played :D.

Magath said in an interview that Lenz has done really well recently, has a very professional approach and won a match for them in Hamburg. So he promised him to play him whenever possible.
Against Bayern was the time to show that appreciation.

I'm sure that was part of it but I am also sure that he wanted to rub some salt into the wound with that sub.
He did bring him on in the 89th minute. Wolfsburg were already 4-1 up in the 74th minute, could have easily brought him on then but waited till the end to make it extra humiliating.
Well played Felix.

Well, it seems he hasn't forgotten how he got sacked in Munich ... so this was the perfect moment for revenge. ;)
Congrats to Wolfsburg on this very impressive 5:1 win and for taking the lead in the table! Magath surely gets a lot of financial support from VW (what's a little bit unfair towards other clubs) ... nevertheless, I take my hat off to him for the great job he's doing!
PS: Sensational goal from Grafite! Just have a look:

come one now. as if other clubs don't pay their players/coaches ridiculous sums of money! the man deserves every penny he gets.

I don't think that was Borussia meant.
He's talking about Bayer's, Hoffenheim's and Wolfsburg's special status.
While it's not allowed to own a club in the Bundesliga that's basically what happens at these clubs and it puts all other clubs at a disadvantage.
Clubs like Hannover and Gladbach can't lose money season after season without feeling the effects, Wolfsburg can and even spent more the following season. They can afford to experiment and buy a flop from time to time. Other clubs can't.
They should change that and Martin Kind and a few other managers are talking about this.

VfL Wolfburg is 100% legally owned by VW. The rules banning private ownership weren't put in place until after Volkswagen's takeover of the club's football section (the club VfL Wolfsburg e.V. still exists as well but without the football section - they have also sold all shares they had in the professional football team to Volkswagen, so they are completely seperated from the Bundesliga team now).
Same for Bayer Leverkusen, btw - also legally owned by Bayer AG.

i want to say Phil Ball, but not sure that's right. It was on Goltv and I think they just take the English feed of the game.
Less than Wolfsburg.
Can you compare the budgets for me?
I thought Bayern's budget was 76 m.

Wolfsburg has no budget (well, they may have some "official" number, but that's more of a joke I guess). Magath says what he wants and he gets it. Wolfsburg's stadium and players are payed for by VW mostly. Bayern on the other actually earns most of it's money.
Since Magath is there they have spend 60 Millions on transfers I think

Looked it up, Wolfsburg's official budget is 60 Mil. Euros for 2008/2009.

This is only be the player salaries and transfer budget, same at Bayern, isn´t?
I mean 30 million € transfer deficit in 2008/09. That´s Hoffenheim dimensions. ;)

Dzeko is good but Grafite is the best all around right now
I don't get to watch every game (even though I can through WolfeTV) but the recent ones I have seen, Dzeko seems to do more off the ball and track back a bit better.
Both are great forwards. It would seem its only a matter of time before they are gone elsewhere.

Dzeko is the real deal. Most importantly, age is on his side. Grafite is at the peak of his career and is unfortunately not getting any younger.
I don't think Wolfsburg will be able to hold on to Dzeko at this rate.

If they make the CL for next season or win this season's Bundesliga title, why can't they FR??
They've got him under contract for two more seasons and if they make the CL for next season, they can throw a nice, fat extension offer at him.
Hell, with VW behind them, they can do that anyhow.....

Even if a big team like Milan comes knocking with a hefty transfer sum?
Its possible to hold onto him for another season but if he has another great season next year big clubs will surely offering their purse.
