Why has only one French team ever won the European Cup/Champions League?

Spain has 11 wins. Italy and England have 10 wins. Why?

French teams have lost in the final 5 times. We win all of those games and we have 6 titles. I guess French teams never seem to have the best team in Europe. Theres always teams out there who are better. The big clubs from England, Italy, and Spain. Of course that doesnt explain why Portuguese and Dutch clubs even have more European Cup/Champions League titles than we do. No French club has been able to maintain being a 'big' club for years and years. It seems like every 10 or so years theres a different club thats considered to be the 'big' club in the country. Its not like that in Italy, England and Spain where the big clubs remain large for decades and decades. That continuity is condusive to winning.

maybe because football in france is not such a big thing than in other countries or because for the same salary, a player would cost 100 $/£/€ for example in EPL and 160 in france because of the tax system, so it is impossible to attract the best players. in other words, a players in france is a 60% more expansive than in G-B.
it's hard to be competitive when you don't fight with the same weapons.
and all the bosman thing finished to stop the french clubs improvments on the european scene with all the best palyers going in other leagues for big salaries.

No, it's because French domestic football is shite.

Your "big clubs" pale in comparison to the English, Italian and Spanish big clubs. Do PSG or Marseille have the same international support as Man United, Juventus or Real Madrid. Shit do they!

Your "league" also is a selling league. You can't attract ANY top players. I bet Ribery will leave in good time!! ;)

I think it's got to do with deficit spending. Pump priming is exactly what this league needs but the GD DNCG won't allow it. So instead we have small clubs that are in good financial shape..

Your mighty Man Utd and Real Madrid get spanked by our nameless clubs in the Champions League.

Plus I don't give a damn how much international support Juventus and its co Italian clubs get. Am I kidding, they're on the verge of being relegated anyway. :D

Chelsea 3-5 Monaco
Lyon 3-0 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 1-1 Lyon
Manchester United 0-0 Lille

Come again?

I'm a Chelsea fan mate, but you're being ridiculous.

Better team doesn't equate with bigger club. Your league is shit because it can't compete with the English. Italians and Spanish.

But Man U, Real Madrid and Barcelona aren't. Ah touche.

Individual performances mean nothing. And my points still stand.

Besides, Lyon lost to an Italian team, which is a far superior league.

Only ONE European Cup!! Oh the shame! :p ;)
