Finally...this is going to be released September 12, 2006, under the title "The Miracle Match" (presumably to avoid confusion with Disney's "Greatest Game Ever Played" (or whatever that golf movie was called) and/or to increase overseas sales where no one calls soccer matches "games").

This movie was a disappointment. If I had only $20 to spend on a movie I'd rather get "Kicking and Screaming"

Well. That's very disappointing. I've been looking to rent the DVD. But with a crap name like that, I don't know if I'll be able to remember it.
Nevertheless, I still want to see it.

That is one of the scariest statements I've ever seen on bigsoccer.

Apparently, it's been renamed "The Miracle Match" to avoid confusion with the other soccer movie called The Game Of Their Lives--the documentary about the 1966 North Korean World Cup team.
I have only been able to see 1/3 of the movie on a bootleg DVD...I enjoyed what I saw. I'm looking forward to the September release.
As for Soccertes...you do know that Ladybugs just got released, don't you? ;)

Look at the DVD box ... BUTLER ... BENTLEY ... THE MIRACLE MATCH!
Shouldn't it have been ... WYNALDA ... THE MIRACLE MATCH! Only one guy's ego in front of the movie title ...

Instead of buying this DVD, go see the Cosmos movie, take a date. It'll be 1000x more enjoyable and informative.

I'm disappointed this movie got such a small release here, in the country it was supposed to inspire
from imdb release dates:
USA 22 April 2005 (limited)
France 11 May 2005 (Cannes Film Market)
Japan 28 May 2005 (Tokyo)
Finland 12 July 2006 (DVD premiere)
wtf is that about?? And now they're changing the name so it won't conflict with a documentary about a Korean team? Good lord...

Let's turn BS into EBAY. Take my copy of K & S.
" I'll never watch a Will Ferrell movie again, no matter how funny the commerical makes it appear."

Then you'd miss out on Talledaga Nights and Old School 2.

That will give me 180 extra minutes in my life to find something funny to laugh at.

For all the negative talk here on BS about this movie – it wasn’t that bad. It was worth the $4 to watch the only movie I have seen about the USMNT. I’m actually going to buy it as well – I was at that 2004 MLS game but I didn’t remember them introducing the stars from the 1950 team.
Hopefully the movie can recuperate some money with the DVD. Maybe 20 years from now someone will make a movie on the 2002 USMNT :)

I just bought it at Borders for twenty bones. Not like the book, but not a bad flick either. One of the "Rudy" genre, I think. Definately something to watch when I get done with work at 0400 and slam some beers into me.

$25 at Best Buy, and not one single extra on the disc. Very disappointing.
Movie wasn't bad, though.

Pffffft. That ain't happening for me.
Wait until it hits the discount box at Wal-Mart for $7.99, which it will eventually.
No extras? Man, this was a blowoff from the word go, wasn't it?

I do not believe that word means what you think it means.

I do not believe that word means what you think it means.
I think it does (recover from financial loss) – do you know what I was trying to say?
It does suck that no extras were included in the DVD – I would have liked to see the making off, interviews, etc.

Recoup is more common than recuperate. But yes, apparently that is one definition of recuperate, so you're right.

Apparently.
I was especially disappointed because, back when it was being filmed, the producers claimed to have footage from the match, and that the scenes in the movie were based on what the footage showed.
Since most historians believed that there was no footage from the match, I was hoping that maybe it would make it onto the DVD as an extra.
The fact that it didn't might mean they were blowing smoke the whole time, and no footage exists. But after seeing some of the incredibly old and forgotten footage in the History of Soccer DVD (Fall River Marksmen Open Cup footage from the 1920s, etc.) I had my hopes up.
