Well i want to buy something to wear under my jersey when i play. So i was looking through Eurosport and so far i know HeatGear is what im looking for. Or idk maybe someone else has another suggestion. But while i was looking through the different shirts available i noticed that most of them said the same thing for the description. As of now im considereing the Metal HeatGear T-Shirt. Another prob is the sizing. Idk what size to get. Im 6'2, pretty skinny. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

what it does is it moves the sweat from your skin so you dont get drenched and it makes you feel breezes better...but i dunno if its that much of a difference

I have heat gear, wore it once to a VERY hot practice, took it off after about 5 minutes it was just too hot. I dont know how it could help any i hated it. But ya you do feel the breeze.

any comments on the sizes? idk which one to get.

do you know if the difference in sizing is how tight the shirt is or the length?

It's more to do with girth than length....
I have 2 Mediums, one long sleeve coldgear for winter and one short sleeve heatgear for summer. They've both uber tight as I'd say thats what I'd wear in normal tees if I wore tight fitting shirts. I more recently got the metalgear in an XL, which just basically gives me a little more room in the arms (plus makes me feel buff that im wearing xl). I'd previously owned the Nike dri-fit lycra tops in M and the first line of Nike Pro tops, also in M, which fitted perfectly besides being ridiculously too short (im only 6'0 with no real gut yet they ride up like no1's business). The UnderArmour are longer, are super stretchy, and kinda stay when u stretch them low. #Pricey, but worth the money, although I personally don't see how they make u cooler than just a footy shirt on it's own! Even in winter when it's too cold to get outta bed for a morning KO I end up taking my UA off after 5 mins!
Look for truck loads to become available fo'cheap (mebe ebay) as I hear the US military won't be using it anymore in the future....

I'm 6'1" and skinny as well. I own some UA Heatgear shirts in L and they fit great. They definitely are stretchy enough to accomodate small differences in size. I don't think you would want them to be too tight...right?

But I also agree that Heatgear doesn't really work in the heat. I live in San Francisco, where it is rarely super hot, but when I go play in the East Bay, where temps rise significantly in the summer, the less layers I have on, the better. Usually I just want a loose fitting Dri-fit or Climacool shirt/jersey. I actually use the thinner UA Heatgear shirts as an extra layer when it is foggy and cold.

So the heatgear basically just wicks away sweat?

I'm thinking of buying some?

I dont know why anyone would buy coldgear though, cuz i get warm when im playing. Its my ears and hands that get cold.

I would like heatgear while its cold, cuz if it wicks away sweat, then i ownt be wet, so ill be warmer.

So is heatgear any good?

Yeah heatgear does work, tho for soccer im still happier nudey under my club shirt. just a preference as I guess I don't sweat so bad and thus 2 layers seems redundant when it's hot. Tho. wearing heatgear on it's own is sweet for training, rekkon the UA jerseys that soem US college teams wear must be excellent.
Dunno if ur plan to use it as a waterproof will work tho, I think wicking sweat from the inside out is one thing, but keeping u warm by keeping u dry from winter rain....
If your ears and hands get cold it's to do with circulation, so mebe try clenching ur firsts and wiggling ur ears:p U can get those Nike headbands that cover ur ears....

I own both the nike pro gear and the under armour....UA is definitely better quality although it's more expensive. I always wear an undershirt in the summer or winter. I sweat quite a bit and it's amazing how much more comfortable you are when your cotton tshirt isn't clinging soak and wet on your body. That and depending on your jersey logos, getting rubbed and having raw nipples suck!

Love the cold gear as well, keeps you nice and warm in the winter. I've had a number of games when I just get a cold spell, sub out, or at half where I just get really cold quick. I'm pretty thin as well with a really low bodyfat % so I'm sure that has alot to do with it. Even if it's somewhat chilly, in the 50's I'll wear gloves and a ls UA shirt just to keep the warmth in and stay warm....just a personal preference.

if you live near a TJ Maxx or Ross store, in the UK it's TK Maxx, check there before buying anything. I have some Russell brand undershirts and they are fantastic and they only cost $5. Don't just go with UA because of the name check out other brands, i did and it saved me $30.

The only reason why I wear Nike pro and UA is because I hate the feeling of the rough nylon jerseys. They are thin and very comortable, I'd suggest buying larger than normal for optimal comfort.

When you sweat, the "evaporation" effect really doesn't do much. You still feel drenched.

I wear UA and love it. If you feel that the Heat Gear is makes you too hot when you are sweating, you might want to try a sleeveless version of it. Personally I like it also because it saves my Tshirts from most of the sweat. Based on my conversations, people either hate the compression shirts or love them. I happen to be one of the people who loves them.

I don't wear Under Armor. Instead, I wear the tight Kappa Italy Jerseys from 2000 under my jersey and they work the same! I found a loophole...:p

I use the Uner Armour Compression shorts as I don't like to be bouncing around while I run if you know what I mean and I also use the Heat Gear in the winter because we play our Cup schedules in the middle of Nov-Feb. here and it gets flat out cold where I live.

I do have a question for everyone. I am living in Baltimore Maryland, the home of Under Armour so it's quite trendy to wear it as casul wear here which I hate. I don't have a massive probelm with people wearing a loose gear top or a hat but it's the people decked out in it head to toe and it's obvious they aren't doing anything related to sports. Is it like that where you live?

Another thing that bugs me is that all the products are the same and every store carries the same colors and styles but for some reason kids and moron parents act like they are looking at totally new items when they walk into a store that carries UA and they flock to it like a moth to a flame.

1.) I also use the compression shorts, because I don't like to be "bouncing around" when I play either.

2.) I use the turfgear. which, is just heat gear in long sleeves. the only time I had ever worn cold gear was for winter track practice in high school because it would be freezing in between workout intervals. I just think it keeps you too warm for soccer.

3.) thankfully, I don't see people wearing underarmour tops accompanied with compression short bottoms haha. that'd be a sight.

I use compression shorts when playing because without it I take the skin off my hips from slide tackling and falling.

I've noticed that alot of the cricket players at my school wear these l/s under armour shirts when fielding.
