Portugal will be without Deco, Costinha, and possibly Ronaldo. That's good news.

werent they without deco when we played them in 04, and we still lost albeit in pks.

i would have much rather played the dutch, especially if MVB kept refusing to play ruud. i would have loved our chances with the great striker that is dirk kuyt.

i'm scared of portugal but more of big phil. why,

Figo can't be referred to FIFA - ref booked him despite not seeing the headbutt. Damn double jeopardy....

We cannot possibly beat these cheating, diving, nancy boy cvnts - we'll finish with 7 men..........Portugal are a disgrace to foot ball...........they are not blokes they are jokes.....:) and Figo should hopefully die in a fire (of shame) before Saturday, if there is any justice in this World..........that ref shouldn't last long either, if there's a God...:)

We're out...........the roons and the leeches are stacked against us, plus of course we're a pile of cack...........:(

The most worrying thing about Portugal is Figo's form. He's on fire right now, looking a class above (IMO) the rest of the team.

England should pee all over the depleted portugese team.

I can see England beating Portugal for sure. We still havent seen the real England. I can see a comfortable victory.

(if Lennon plays 10-0)

Have people forgotten the remarkably mediocre dross we've put up so far? True, Portugal seems like a good draw for us. You'd hope the players would want to prove a point and get revenge for 2 years ago and the suspensions Portugal are facing will hurt them pretty bad but I'm not seeing where this optimism is coming from.

I can see another close game with us maybe pulling through IF Sven can sort out the tactics (and right now that is one big mother of an IF)

if ronaldo plays, and plays well, then you could have a big problem defensively on the right.

the loss of deco is massive though. I could see him and maniche breaking you right through the middle.

not sure maniche & figo can do it on their own.

Agreed, we will have a problem with Ronaldo if he plays on the left. If we go with Neville he's just coming back from injury and Carragher would get turned inside out by him. Hargreaves might stand a chance on pace but isn't strong enough defensively.

A lot could count on what is in the refs report about why he booked Figo. If it wasn't for the headbutt then you've gotta imagine FIFA will charge him for that.

Winning ugly hardly tells the story and I, like the rest of the gang here keep thinking that ......Next Time, this next match, the real England team will show up, tell Sven to get done by one of his fancy ladies and start scoring goals.

But then the morning of the match will come and we'll see the same old deep dark chocolate coloured kaka.... and stumble through another one..:)

I usually love watch portugal play, as they are very entertaining. but after that game I hope you wipe the floor with them. Cheating twats.

Funny thing is, if germany were to do everyone a favour and eliminate Argentina, and England can beat a stripped portugal without two many suspensions, you'd be in a box seat

England should win, imo. However, given the IQ of SGE, who knows what he is going to do.

hopefully .... ha ha..... ... one good thing about this match was rooney , he was getting sharper and sharper as the match went on.

unlike other key players returning from injury, who deteriorate as time goes on
