to play against argentina, brazil?
this team is scary to watch. There is no tempo and pace. The only bright spot is rooney and he isn't fit.
Is it time to drop lampard for crouch?
find a RB soon?

There is no magic formula, nor can we expect a team to turn up to a tournament play great football and win just because we want that to happen. The real world does not work like that, sadly.
The team is doing enough to win, maybe bring Crouch back in to give Rooney support. Maybe drop Lampard so Gerrard has all the responsibility to get on those chances. Who knows, who cares, just drink your beer and enjoy the summer.

Argentina and Brazil? Don't you have another game first? Frankly, I don't think England will have much of a chance in the quarters. Not with the way they played today. Yeah yeah I know, you play down to the level of the competion. But that was still fugly.

Which we would have done if Lampard hadn't had such a dramatic loss of form.

England needs a a dramatic lineup shuffle...
---------Rooney----Lampard--------
-Bridge---Beckham--Gerrard--Cole--
-Cole---Campbell----Terry--Hargreaves
As great as Beckham has been on set pieces..he has been virtually invisible on the right flank. In case u havent noticed...almost every flank attack has been built up on the left through the Cole boys. Beckham just doesnt have the dribblin/speed to provide a much needed spark on the right.
I say we slot Beckham in CM...where he doesnt have to blaze by anybody and relgate most of the defensive responsibilities to Gerrard to allow Beckham more freedom...Sort of where Lampard has been playing.
Lampard as been pretty ineffective in CM...but his still has one of the best shots on the team. He may not be Crouch, but he is tall enough to knock the ball down to Rooney.
I've always fancied Wayne Bridge on the left. Eventhough he normally plays LB, he's more than capable of filling in at LM. Bridge has outstanding dribblling, pace, and crossing ability...probably the 2nd best crosser on the team.
While Ferdinand hasn't made any substantial errors... he has looked rather shaky at times. I don't want to see him back there when Engalnd plays a much tougher opponent like Portugal.

Nothing to improve except for Lampards finishing. Every forum I find myself pointing out that no one has come out to try and beat us yet. When they do, space will appear, goals will come and England will perform.
A conference team could have done what Ecuador, Sweden, T&T and Paraguay have all done. Men behind the ball, fill all the spaces in their half and hope for a lucky break or silly mistake.
Take another look at the games we've played. England have been outstanding. It takes real quality to beat the tactics deployed against us. In the past that has always been our problem but this world cup England have solved the problem.
No wonder the team are so confident. The passing was exemplary, movement brilliant at times and only the defence have looked nervous of the sucker punch.
England must, must do exactly what they have been doing and when a team that wants a match shows up, so will England.

so your solution to the team is to move beckham in the middle where he si left effective, put lamaprd as a striker which he is not(and he cannot finish at the present time), put a left back as a winger, and switch flanks with joe cole, and put campbell in in place of arguably your most solid defender in the world cup?
ahahahahahahahaha

This will be Sven's 3rd encounter with Scolari, so he knows what to expect. I will be very disappointed if Sven thinks he can bunker down after getting a lead. I think England have to attack Portugal, Joey, Lennon, Rooney and Gerrard being the focus of attack.

Have the lads get their collective finger out and start playing to their capabilities? That and give Stevie Gerrard a cattle prod. He can use it on where the fingers came out of.

Give Rooney some help up front, have Gerrard push up and help the Boy Wonder out, instead of leaving him high and dry, to try and create around 4 defensive backs..

How 'bout we create a Stevie Lampard? Lmps midfield play has been pretty good and Stevie seems to know the approximate direction of the goal. :D
