Another game from Lampard consisting of nothing but skewiff long range shots and misplaced passes. Nolan would be better than Lampard, he might not be as skillful but he works harder and is less selfish.

Lampard is on poor form but i'm kinda confident he can come back to his personal best. He's lacking confidence and just needs to score to lift his confidence.

We don't have that luxury. If you look back at all our games Lampard has had a very good chance to score at least once in every games and has missed them all, sometimes badly.
We need to drop him to the bench for the QF and maybe bring him in as a sub later. At the moment he's a liability.

Indeed, we don't have the luxury of putting up with his poor form and hoping he snaps out of it. If J.Cole had played like Lamps in the first four games he'd be out of the team.

Drop him an see how it goes, bringing him in later may well help him.
At the moment he's back to Fat Frankie and that's not good.

And on tonites showing you could say exactly the same about Gerrard, Posh and Joe Cole, get real, we don't have anything better there...learn to live with it.......we ain't got long left......

I didn't see any good chances falling to Gerrard for him to sky over the bar, Beckham scored, forgetting Cole's performance against Sweden are we?
Sure the midfield may not have been great but Lampard is in a class of his own and has been all world cup.
The fact of the matter is that any other midfielder is currently a better choice than Lampard. I'd choose Jenas ahead of him! He is contributing nothing, 0, nowt.

Cole and Beckham have had good games, Gerrard has been held back, Lampard has been given full attacking freedom for four whole games and has done f. all with it. No decent shots, no decent assists. Riquelme does more in five minutes than Lampard does all match.

I wouldn't go that far. If we do drop Lampard then I wouldn;t mind seeing Carrick and Hargreaves together with Gerrard given a completely free role.

Hargreaves freeing up Gerrard would be good but sadly we need a right back and the lad from Munich is the best option we have.

England are going to be hurting vs. Portugal tactically. If serious changes aren't made, they will see their toughest opponent of the WC do whatever they want with England. Lampard is out of form and needs to go. Why should it not be Carrick and Gerrard in the middle -- with SG in his natural role? Why not play Crouch and Rooney together? Why not sub Lennon for Beckham to create more opportunities down the flank. Portugal scares me.

He is fine in a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 if a holding midfielder plays with him -- right now it is a combination of bad form and poor chemistry with SGE's tactics and playing with Gerrard. Either way, he should be off the field.

Are you kidding? I am sure every England fan was praying for an equalizer!
9 v 9 after 90 minutes, and 0% chance it would have stayed that way after 120! Petit had come on and always looked likely to be booked again, and with that referee, I think it was almost guaranteed that 1-2 more red cards were coming out over another 30 minutes.
If Holland had equalized, I bet the game honestly finishes 8 v 7. Portugal on penalties to advance with 4 sent off. :D
