How are photographers treated by fans?

There are media whores everywhere. Andy has captured tons of images to prove it.

But, when you have the time to actually talk to some of them, they are generally "folks" just like most everybody else. They seem to be genuinely interested in what its like to shoot down on the field of a World Cup match. The mystique of the World Cup is prevasive indeed.

The fans have treated me well, and with respect. That is a warm and welcome feeling while busting my ass over here.

Wade, after meeting you on the train back from Gelsenkirchen following the Czech game, I can say that it goes both ways.

When people are approachable and not standoffish, they usually get the respect they deserve.

Good on you for giving soccer photogs a good name. :D

Photogs have to understand the game, at least if they're going to get a decent shot. There are going to be at most a couple key moments in a game, and to get the shot, with the lenses they're using, they have to see those moments coming and anticipate exactly when and where they need to be focusing their attention (and camera). A lot of shooters are former players, but all good ones are at least students of the game.
