He was a beast, absolute stunning performance. Scores a goal, sets up another, covers for Makalele!?!?! IS THIS POSSIBLE??

In any case, I'm happy we qualified. Let's give Spain our best shot.

Vieira has been improving ever since the France - South Korea match. I always thought that he should have been in today's match and I was sure proven right. ALLEZ LES BLEUS! :) :D

Could the stars be aligning for the boys? I really don't mind facing Spain. They have played well so far, but they are always primed to fall on their face.

HAHA no... even Domenech will tell you that ;) . Don't let one victory dispel all the signs that the equipe de france has major, major problems.

IMO, we're going to get steamrolled, Spain look different this year, and with their exceptional quality....

I'm less afraid of Spain then of.... Switzerland... or Togo.....

We play to the level of our competition.... which certainly does not mean that we are going to win against Spain, but I certainly don't see us getting steam rolled. 0-0 With France advancing on penals.....

not from what I've seen. Moreover the style that they play - i.e. a possession game - directly damages ours. As we've seen against Togo, we need loads of chances to score, and we can't create them if they pressure our wingers and our midfield. We gave away the ball too many times today, the main culprits being Silvestre and Makalele, and that's going to haunt us against Spain as they won't give us a lot of looks at goal.

I wouldn't exactly say they are overrated I just think they are a young team. There are two ways this game can go, either we'll get tired out by their younger players or we'll use our experience to our advantage and click together.

Okay, I agree with you I may have exaggerated a bit there but I do believe we will defeat Spain. :)

I agree. We killed the demons that haunted us (lack or no scoring, no victories, refereeing, etc...). On the bright side we missed a lot of chances that we should have made especially with Ribery, so we had the possession and the opportunities. If we are to defeat Spain we need to be sharp and on target and with the chances we get we need to score! The question I have in mind is what freakin formation are we reverting to with Zidane coming back into the lineup?!!?
I'm still in awe at how great Pat Vieira was in this game. He took the captain's armband and completely took over the duties of winning this game.

Happy Birthday Patrick Vieira!!!

I agree I think we will win too. I think this victory goes a long way towards giving us a pyschological edge. We know that it's within ourselves to win. With this victory there were many things that need to improve and that's what we need to concentrate on for the Spain clash.

So with the return of Zidane, where this formation headed?!?!

Yes Vieira was brilliant and I too am wondering how Zizou will fit into the scheme of things. But as I said I have the upmost confidence, the game I saw today was the France with the killer instinct of 98 and 00.
