Penalty Shot on Onyewu??? GET REAL!!......
No doubt about it... The Refs have been paid off to doom the USA and other non-traditional powers at the behest of betters, mobs and mafia crime organizations who TRULY run the World of FIFA Refs. Just TOO MANY "MISSSED" or "BAD" calls conveniently placed at critical junctures of crucial games.
Bottom Line: FIFA dont run sh!te at the World level of referees and the current WC setup is a TOTAL FARCE with all the corruption and collusion evident everywhere on and off the pitch.
It has really killed my enthusiasm for the WC and soccer in general, and if it continues, will make sure soccer NEVER is regarded as a TRUE sport in the US.
Indeed, with all the match-fixing everwhere in World Soccer, one wonders if it's even worth following soccer at all anymore...

The ref made a harsh decision, agree.
But why didnt the US team play better in the 2 game before? Think about that first before you talk about the ref ruiining the game.

What's a farce is that you had 1 shot on goal for two games, yet you blame the ref and not your team or the coach for the bad results.

Australia got screwed over by Merk as well but if they get the right result today they will qualify still....If USA was good enough they still would've qualified even with that setback. It's sport, there is always luck and referees/umpires involved who make mistakes just like the players.

i agree, a team cannot always count on the decisions of the referee.
they have to play good-looking and/or effective football. if not, they deserve to get kicked out of the tournament by wrong decisions of the referee. it's that simple.

Yeah, Bruce sucked as a coach, AND we played like sh!te, but I'd like to see some of those calls made against Brazil or Italy (without concurring makeup calls) in crucial situations...
the Refs KNOW they'd get killed.... AND not paid....

All the ref-bashing by american fans is just plainly pathetic. Just have a look at the USMNT boards to see what I mean.
Face it, you just were not good enough to advance. It wasn't the ref, it was the fact that you made 1 goal in 3 games. Even without the questionable call today you still would have needed 1 additional goal and everyone who watched the US today would agree with me that you wouln't have managed to do that in 5 hours.

1.4-1 loss vs germany : "WE PLAYED WITH OUR C-TEAM!!!!"
2.0-3 loss vs Czech : "WE JUST HAD A BAD GAME!!!!"
3.1-1 vs Italy :"STUPID REF AND DIRTY ITALIANS, WE ARE BETTER"
4.2-1 loss vs Ghana :"FIFA PAYED THE REF TO KILL US!!!!!"

While I agree with most, if not all, of the USMNT criticism, the Refs have been ATROCIOUS for the whole Tournament-
THIS IS ISSUE OF MY THREAD- NOT THE USMNT OR TODAY's RESULT!!!
DON'T TELL ME THAT ONLY AMERICANS CAN SEE THE AWFUL OFFICIATING!!!

- "Maracanazo" Brazil against Uruguay - Brazilian team even burned their jerseys after this match.
- "Battle of Bern" Brazil against Hungary - 3 red cards against brazil they lost 4:2
italy:
- italy against south korea - they lost because the golden goal of italy was denied, totti got red card
- in the whole tournament they got denied 4 (!) REGULAR goals because of wrong decisions by the referee
still, nice try dude ;)

FIFA needs to instill a lottery system where NOBODY knows who's going to ref each game before kick-off thus making mafia ref bribing like in Italy virtually impossible...

1. So you are claim playing with a C-Team has no impact. Id like to see Germany C-Team beat US A-Team
2. Obviously we had a bad game.
3. Obviously playing with 9 men will have a huge impact.
4. Dont even try to say the penalty kick was not blatant cheating by the ref. Its obvious. There is no way you can explain that call. At least 5 times I saw a US player touched in the box, but where was the penalty?
2/3 of our games were heavily impacted by the ref. Enough said. How are you supposed to play good when the ref destroys all hope?

Wait, didn't that (sh*t) call put tiny Ghana through over the Czech Republic? And I thought the fix was on against Ghana, that's what they said in the ref forum.

100% agree man. We should have still been able to win the game, but we just werent good enuff. Even though I agree it was a bogus call, the problem is the US has had to "squeezed" its way out of possible, so adding just one goal against us is like us trying to score 5 goals. We just didnt live up to the expecations this WC. Oh well...Mooooooooooooooooovin' on :)
