Well, we weren't expected to make it this far, so I'm just going to revel in the experience of making the second half of the tournament and not worry too much about the result.
Hopefully we can give the Italians a run for their money.

Hi Caesar--I really think your boys from "down under" will give the "eye ties" more than a "run for their money"! I think the Aussies are gonna run the Italians right OUT of the tourney!
PREDICTION Australia 2 Italy 1..:) ..THERE..i said it--& i know there are SOME who say..."who cares what Wotan says"....but, i was right before (USA/Italy)---& here's my prediction! Any more predictions?

unfortunately if viduka starts we wont finish at all in the game, so if thats the case italy 3 - 1 australia
If hiddink gets rid of viduka it will go to penalties.
Either way australia has no pressure on them and this is already a successful WC for us so what ever happens i'll be proud of the aussies.

Yeah you are the same guy posting S-HIT at the Italy forum and said they wouldn't even get out of their group.
You are ANTI-ITALIAN and just want to see them lose.
Good luck Aussies !!!!!

It's also time for revenge :D
Hiddink won't have Moreno officiating this time

If the ref hands this game to italy it will sum up australias world cup pretty well, we've played some good football but been hamstrung by the refs for reasons well known. Hopefully this wont happen and the game will be great to watch regardless of the end result.

After we qualified for the first time in 32 years, everyone though we were successful. We were all so proud. But as soon as we ran over the top of Japan expectations changed very quickly at home. All of a sudden, if we failed to make the 2nd round we would be failures again (which is ridiculous!).
Now that we are through the boys will come home heros regardless of what happens against Italy which is a good thing for football in Australia. :)

I know living here in Melbourne, the three biggest migrant communities that reside here are Greek, Italian, and Croatian.
We are now going to play each of these three nations within the space of a month.
Australia have already defied most of the worlds predictions about them, but taking out Italy would be absolutely huge!
Can we do it?? Of course we can!
Will we do it? Time will tell!
Go Socceroos!!

Maaan I'm nervous. Anything that has to do with Hiddink gives me the heeber-jeebers (I can't believe I just typed that).
Logically, we should make it through BUT Australia have heart and I really like them as a team, so we realllly shouldn't underestimate them or it could hurt. A lot.

Thats about right, if Italy underestimate Australia they could find themselves in trouble. But, on paper, Italy should go through with all their stars.
Luckily, the game isn't played on paper.. :D

I hope Italy choose a nice referee for the game.:p
To all supporters from teams who have not advanced - get on the Aussie bandwagon, there's room for everyone.
Prerequisites -
1. willingness to have a beer during the game (not Fosters)
2. belief that we can come back whatever the score may be
Special consideration given to all Croatian applicatons.

Hachiko's Fearless Prediction:
Expect plenty of goals in this match. Italy will be very opportunistic this match, and while the Roos have enjoyed their trip in uncharted waters, their World Cup run will finish where it started...in Kaiserslautern. 7-3 Italy win.

Don't get your hopes up. It seems like they have cloned him this tournament with all the poor officiating.
But at least your players will get the anti-Aussie advantage of three yellows before being sent off.
I think this will be a good, rough scrappy game. Although I want the underdog Aussies I think Italy will pull it off 2-1.
