Saw Supergrass last night at the 9:30 Club in DC last night, with The Coral opening.
I'll tell you...what a great 'effing show! I've been listening to Supergrass since between I Should Coco and In It For The Money and have been looking forward to seeing them live for a long time. I was not disappointed. They played a good collection of songe from all four albums, with some of the new stuff really sounding as if they've been playing it live for years. Biggest highlights: "Mary," "Mansize Rooster," "Richard III," "Late In The Day," "Sitting Up Straight," and "Moving," with new songs like "Brecon Beacons" and "Can't Get Up" - basically, almost the entire show. They really sounded good, with the band really clicking on all fronts.
The Coral was pretty interesting. A little choopy, and with four guitars much of the time, along with three or four guitars going, made for an interesting sound and sometimes areal treat for the ears. I'm intrigued and am interested to see what they sound like in the studio.
In all, if anyone's at all into Supergrass, I'd highly suggest seeing them on this tour. With their sound, it's still amazing to me that they haven't made it bigger in the US yet...
