OH NO! I can already see another Dutch-Portuguese BS war brewing up. This could get very ugly. Can't wait for the game.

wow what a game this will be

Could go either way, this will probably be the most anticipated match of the R of 16 unless maybe if Brazil plays Italy.

Forca Portugal!

This game... well wow.... hopefully it won't be a repeat of Euro 2004.

I hope it will be a repeat of the Kuip's game in late 2001 ;)

Since Robben is the most impressive dutch player so far, it's a good idea to replace Miguel for P. Ferreira...he's way better deffensively and know his teammate too well.

My exact thoughts. And I wonder if Caneira isn't more able to stop Van Persie that Valente. I think we stand a decent chance of going to the quarter-finals. And then I suppose we'll play the English :D :D :D

I give the Netherlands the leg up here. I thin both teams are in a similar place, I just think the Netherlands are better suited to getting a result.

Even though Robben was great at Euro 2004, and Miguel made him look like a rec league player....

*cough* miguel euro2004 *cough*

either way im scared of playing the dutch..its about time they win against it and im afraid that this might be that time and game.

robben is better, and now vdv and sneijder have matured..babel is a great young player as well.

I can't wait. 2 of the most attractive playing teams in the world. You won't be seeing Babel at all but he is a great talent.

This will be the best match of the round of 16.

Basically, it's a 50/50 match the way I see it but hopefully Portugal will win.

Good Luck

I may be a bit biased since I am Portuguese here but I think Portugal should be able to edge out against Holland, we have always had their number and always seemed to be able to get results when playing them in the past. Granted the past doesn’t mean shit, but it should give Portugal a bit more confidence going into the match. Portugal's squad is relatively unchanged since the last macth at Euro 2004, aside from the injury and loss of Jorge Andrade. Man I wish he didn't get hurt, it hasn't proven to be a huge blow yet, but I'd defiantly feel more comfortable with him in the defense cause without him we lose a lot of speed and agility. With Portugal having the same squad tho, they should know the weak points of the Holland defense and know what tactics to employ to get results. These two teams match up almost perfectly and both play a similar style of playing mainly up the wings, should be a very close game and Sunday can't come fast enough.

Does anyone know how much Holland’s team has changed since Euro 2004?

It's a tough one and I'm inclined to say Portugal but we'll need to play at our very best.

Go team Portugal, Forza and may the Atlantean-Gallic spirit be with you!

THAT'S for sure. I can imagine "upsets" in one or two other matches (England-Ecuador for instance) but this game here is totally 50-50 with the winner standing a very good chance to at least the semis. No other round 2 game is like that.

holland played well defenisvely against argentina last night. Portugal has struggled offensively so far. I do not know.....

good point!
i think robben might be the most dangerous element of the dutch. bur van persie is also very hard to cover.
however, this is going to be a tough match and hopefully we win...

yes, jungle king, i hope it will be as the kuip match where pauleta scored and portugal showed a superbe exhibition

I have mixed feelings about this one.

We don't exactly have a great record against Portugal,it's about time we win for a change. :)

But then again, the past is the past. The Dutch squad is different to the one we had in 2004.You'll see that we are more of a team, and that is due to van Basten.Portugal is looking good, and are improving.Loved the Maniche goal against Mexico.

All in all it should prove to be a great game, two sides looking for goals.I'll go by saying 50-50.Anything possible. And as with a lot of games this tournament, the referee might have a big part in this, sadly enough.
