I don't think it'll be that exciting a match, I think Argentina is the far superior side in this tourney, Mexico has struggled against Iran, Angola and lost to Portugal while Argentina has looked spectacular. I say 3-0 Argentina, I just don't see Mexico giving them much trouble.

We have to respect Mexico. They didn't look good in their group matches, but they made it through. They have done a very good job preparing themselves for the world cup, they were the first team to get together and played more friendlies than anybody else. They have a good coach who is very analytical and knows Argentina very well.

I think we don't see great individual talent in their squad, but they'll be tough as a team. They have a solid defense anchored by Rafa Marquez and while they haven't been imaginative in attack, they are dangerous on set pieces.

I think we can beat them, but it's not going to be easy.

Well, Iran is widely underestimated, and Portugal should have been European Champions two years ago. This could be more interesting than it looks. But then...
Argentina looks undefeatable right now, and if Germany should actually meet them in the quarters... I´d rather have Mexico.

I agree. Further, Mexico will have considerably less pressure on them than Argentina.

Well, we've been eliminated in the round of 16 the last three world cups, doing it again will be disappointing but survivable, there's nothing to lose, and a tremendous upset of the one of the world's great teams to gain.

Only things going for us are that Argentina's probably already thinking about the quarterfinals (same path as Germany), and our unpredictability, aside from the keeper we haven't used the same formation twice in this World Cup.

Hopefully Rafa Márquez doesn't decide to add to his streak of being red carded in knockout round games.

Here's a good suggestion, give Fonseca some playing time...

Mexico has to be wishing it was almost anyone else. I think they give European teams problems with their style of play, but Argentina will have seen it before, and I think will simply let their better talent shape the game.

Yes, we have to respect Mexico. These are guys working hard and doing their best.

However, the chances are much in favour of Argentina. In the match with Holland today the Dutch players were very rough, intimidating the Argentinians with their hard tackles and faults. Mexico cannot play that harsh.

In my opinion, in the match with Mexico the coach Pekerman will test a few players and some tactics.

Mexico's current form is very poor. I predict the result of this game will be the most lop-sided out of all the round of 16 games. (In Argentina's favor, of course) :)

(And before someone replies, yes - Sweden's current form isn't exactly setting the world on fire either) ;)

This won't be an easy game for Argentina as most people think, despite the the players Argentina has are superior. They (coaches) know each others way and tactics.Argentina and Mexico have played in the Copa America,Confederations Cup, and a couple of friendlies here and there.Argentina has to go into this game thinking that this is a final and don do not underestimate their opponent.I think thats exactly what Pekerman has in mind and so do the players. They have worked to hard to get here and to put behind what happen in WC 2002.

Should be interesting.

You couldnt be more wrong. As people have said, we have absolutley nothing to lose. Our players are not performing, our tactics are horrible and our coach is a complete moron. Most Mexicans have already given up on this team. Mexico cannot beat Argentina, Holland or anyone else in the Round of 16 playing anything close to how they have played in the last 3 matches. However, there will be added motivation to play against Argentina than any other team. The only thing that can give Mexico victory on Saturday are balls and heart. If those are present to a great extent, then we might have a chance. Also Mexico has been 1-0-1 against Argentina, under LaVolpe, in official matches. Not saying that figures into the equation for Saturday's game, but it might be some hope.

I agreed. I thought the Mexicians wanted Argentina, instead of holland in the R16. As mentioned, Mexico has a good record against Argentina. Mexico, Brazil and germany are the only teams that does not mind Argenmtina on their path.

Looks like another disappointing Round of 16 exit for the Aztecs. :( I would really like to see a Germany vs Mexico quarterfinal but LaVolpe and Co. will see to that not happening.

Germany will at least end up in the semifinals after beating Argentina.

mexico couldnt be more happy to face argentina i think european teams give mexico alot of problems like what happen yesterday and against holland in that friendly but argentina is a great team really scares after the game against serbia but mexico already knows how argentina plays our coach could name every single one of their players but we will see if mexico plays with heart and balls i give it a 1-0 to mexico

I predict a tight match. When we faced in Confed Cup, we had to go to penalties to decide the match, and it was unlucky for Mexico. But this time, our team is also more solid, so I still think Argentina has the edge.

Hope we have a good match, with the best football from both teams.

this is going to be one hell of a game! Argentina are clear favs, but Mexico can still put up a fight. we have had the worst of luck these past 2 games (against Angola & Portugal). despite how much possesion, ball control, and shots we have, we just can not get the ball in the damn net!!! i hope Borgetti is in great shape to play, because i would like to see him up front alongside Kikin Fonseca. it would also be wise for Lavolpe to start Castro and Morales on the wings. these two guys are more offense orriented and put in great crosses.
