In Berlin Today for the Germany Ecuador match

do not bend or let your tickets get folded in any way, my ticket was damaged (bent slightly) and it wrecked the chip inside it, (not the silver square in the upper right corner) and I was redirected to a private meeting with security. They checked my passport and ticket against the computer records and after clearing my identification they hand wrote me a duplicate of my ticket.

I was going to let my son use it since he travel from la for the brasil game in munich with us and is here for only four days, but he went to the fan fest instead and would have failed the id check with the damaged ticket

Someone told me a similar story where they had to replace their ticket but it had another person's name on it. The guy was part of a group and got a ticket with the name of someone else in the group (ie the ticket wasn't scalped).

Anyway he told the ticketing people the situation and they didn't really care and still issued a new ticket, so even if you have a ticket with someone elses name on it, chances are you will still be able to get a new one if it is damaged.

My personal experience, I had a ticket with my name on it stolen and reported it to ticket services. I did not bring my passport to the stadium for fear of that getting stolen, so I showed a credit card and drivers license for proof of id and that was fine.
