View Full Version : Loud Crowd

I've been fortunate enough to attend a few loud soccer matches over the past few years. Most of them have revolved around the England national team.
The England v Portugal match at Euro 2000 in Holland was an electifying crowd experience. I was seated to the immediate left of their supporters section. Again, loud and proud.
For the England v Trinidad match a few days ago, I was on the field directly in front of the English supporters section. They rocked the place. Truly phenominal. In an earlier thread I had suggested American fans would need to personally experience the English during a tournament match to see/feel how it should be done.
Well, I don't mind being made out to be a clueless liar. I was on the field directly in front of the USA supporters section for the Italy v USA match in Kairserslautern, and I'm here to be a witness to the absolute FACT that the USA section tore the roof off the house in K-Town!!!
As stated in another thread, Kasey Keller came near the section and stirred them to action. After one of his proddings, the place erupted into a constant cheer many decibles louder than the English section.
I have NEVER heard a cheering section louder than that at any professional contest (discounting amplified rock concerts). I don't know where that many voices came from, but nobody could possibly have represented better than that night in K-Town. It'll probably go down in the books next to Woodstock. "Yeah, I was there, man!!"
Well, I WAS THERE! And it was as sweet as it get. Props to EVERYONE who sacrificed their lungs on that night.

You might be loud, but can you at least sing some different songs other than:
USA USA USA (i mean, this isn't wrestling)
Lets go US (Ahhh that classic American chant. You hear it everywhere. Let's go Oilers, Lets Go Mets ect)
Come on America, Use yor imagination.

I was there in fron row right in front of you. My voice is still gone. When Keller prompted us to raise hell, it was absolutely great. BTW we had an arsenal of chants and am getting tired of these Euros saying we only have USA USA chants.

letterman is quite a fan. he's had several players on during the last world cup and wouldn't be surprised if a few of the guys make it on there after this one. Of course he takes teh Pis$ out of everyone.
Leno on the other hand....

No offense but your National Team supporters don't have very many chants or songs either. Atleast that can be heard on TV. All I hear is God Save the Queen and Engerland....Engerland....Engerland. I did attend an England match back in 2000 and they only used the Engerland chant the whole time. I was dissapointed since I was used to matches at Highbury and Loftus Road where the chants were awesome. Anyway...again no offense...you many have plenty but they aren't heard very well on tv.

the most popular of the day:

here is a list of US songs and chants if you are interested but by far the most popular on the day were the ohh ohh song and the clap clap clap etc etc US! chant
when I got home i thought it might have been easy for a viewer not to realize 99.9% of the crowd noise was from the US supporters.
by the was DOB is an idiot he made a comment about the Italians booing when I don't think they even boo it would've been whistling but he was refering to the US supporters chanting GOOCH!!!

Uhm...err....wasn't there...but wish I was. The US fans came across the television coverage loud and clear.
I remarked several times in the game that our fans seemed to be louder than the Italians, and that I had never heard such great atmosphere from a pro US crowd!
Kudos to All...and lets bring it to the Ghana game...we are going through to the next round.
