Congratulations on entering the 2nd round, but does anything about the team's play give you confidence of advancing another round? For all of the storied resumes of players and coaches, the play has been far south of mediocre for the English.
I see Brazil going through similar pain, but for some reason I see improvement. Can't really say the same about England.
All of the talent, but where is the football?

For what it's worth I've never been more confident that England will do well. From 82 onwards I've watched and could see we weren't good enough to win although 86 and 90 we were among the top 4 imo.
This time England look to be cruising in second gear. I feel confident we're good enough to beat anyone we play. If we can avoid injuries and bad luck we'll be very hard to beat.

There is obvious improvement which can be made for England, the return of Rooney being the biggest. He is the most gifted player in the squad and the one whose role is hardest to replace.
The only other areas we need are another game or two for the likes of Owen and Ashley Cole to build on their sharpness and confidence.
Our defence is so rock solid at the moment, which is the biggest thing you need for a tournament. The goalscoring ability of the team is well proven, just needs a few tweaks to get everyone clicking.

Well we've won the first two games and thats the main thing but if we continue to play crap i'll start to worry. We can't stay in gear 1 and 2 forever, got to start moving it up gear 5/6 etc..

I think England will step up against Sweden and for the second round but hopefully top gear will be reserved for when the big games arrive from the quarters onwards.

Seeing that, from now on, you go home if you lose, the big games start NOW!
