I love reading the TSG summaries. Fascinating.

It was a great game for me also. However, I think the most exciting game I have watched would have to be Trinidad and Tobago vs. Sweden.
That was a fantastic game with some of the best saves I have ever seen.

That one was great, as was Saudi Arabia - Tunisia.

Indeed. And what's funny is that I thought Saudia Arabia v. Tunisia would be a snooze-fest.

as unbiased as i can possibly be-what else could you ask for in a match? if the US would have won they should have made a movie about it. ..."victory" anyone? players bleeding all over the place, playing with 9 men against 10, full out attacks, crowds trying to outloud each other,...it was the perfect match(except the US should have won :)).

I agree. But I find it hard to rate any game involving the US, since I'm so emotionally involved anyway.

Egg-zactly. I thought I was going to throw up by the final whistle. Gotta work on those nerves....
For me:
--The first 45 of the Holland/Ivory Coast match may have been the best competitive football.
--The ARG/SRB match the most beautiful (and I really dislike ARG).
--Saudi/Tunisia the best full match.
...although ..>>> Sunday Result >>> watching France draw twice is pretty f/cking hilarious.

Germany-Poland was amazing. I would add T&T v Sweden and Australia v Japan for the flurry of goals at the end. :)
But really, except for the Argentina win over Serbia, the Spain game against Ukraine, and the Czech - USA game, every other match has been very exciting. :)

It was the only game I missed to that point. Didn't even bother to DVR it. Oh well.

Well, the first half and some stretches of the second weren't that great. Better than I'd expected, but nowhere near the best of the tournament.
Those last 10-15 minutes though... good stuff.
As to the US/Italy game... I am SOOOOO damn glad that there were three people who'd seen the match at a party I had to go to saturday night. It was all I could think about for the rest of the day and most of yesterday. I would've went nuts if not for people to talk to about it.

I think this article is actually an embarrasssingly bad summary of the game. Shocking, really. All the US field players do, according to that summary, is get two red cards and try hard in the second half. If you were an editor, you'd fire the person who filed that report. He closes by praising Lippi's tactics. I can only think of one tactical move by Lippi that I think proved good - bringing in del Piero. And that was a pretty obvious one. He played against a nine-man team for an entire half, and had his team playing to prevent the counter, yet let a ball into the net on a counter and never man-marked Landon Donovan on defense. Lippi was a tactical disaster in that game.
