AS Roma striker Vincenzo Montella has sensationally threatened to quit the Italian national side because he is frustrated at waiting for a call-up.
"I have thought about it, and I still am thinking about it," he was quoted as saying in the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"What bothers me is that for two years we've played in a certain way and then, just because Inzaghi injures himself, we've completely changed tactics when there were people such as Del Piero and I who have similar characteristics.
"I can't understand it. Even if the first choice wasn't available there was still an alternative. Instead illogical choices have been taken."
Montella was left out of the recent friendly with Portugal.
