Given today's outcomes, and the results from yesterday in group C, i think Group E may really be the group of death. The dutch and Argentinians really overpowered their group, but both the Italians and Czech looked very vulnerable today, with the Ghanians looking extremely athletic and dangerous (Appiah, Essien, and Muntari, what a trio) and the Americans with their hard-nosed workmanlike approach. I think the pundits were wrong about which group was the toughest.

Given that all four teams can advance, and all four teams can fail to advance, it sure looks that way in the tables.
Hasn't looked that way on the field for all the matches, though. 3-0 and 2-0 aren't typical "group of death" scorelines.

Of course 6-0, REALY isn't a group of death score.
So basically there isn't a group of death.

I would strongly disagree that the Dutch and Argentines "overpowered" their group, if only because the Ivory Coast was extremely competitive in both losses and very easily could have (and maybe should have) gotten a result in either match. That said, given Serbia's dour display, ours has turned into the tougher group top to bottom, that's for sure.

Group E has always been the GoD in my view.

Fair enough, I thought Ivory coast was one of the most deserving teams to not get through as of yet. Drogba needs to quit intentionally handballing the ball, he's too talented for that. Nonetheless, neither IC or S&M (can i call them that on here) could hold either of them back.

I think it's possible to have two groups of death, I said that from the start, but ours has truly turned out to be the most exciting competition, so far. Maybe a spanner in the works will shake up one of the other groups as well.
Ghana sure sparked things up; they sure cleared a hurtle, I'll be for the USA all the way; but I know a Ghanan and back weeks ago, everyone said the USA would beat Ghana. I asked him, will Ghana beat us?
Well, he's from there, so we know what he said.
Tall task for the USA; this is like the NFL playoffs, where a team has to win their last game and then get some help from other teams, to advance.
Few of us would have imagined this scenario waking up this morning.

let's add Brazil to the whole scenario....
I'll cheer for them today...since almost certainly there is no way anybody in the US group wants to face tehm in the last 16 (with the possible exception of the US, since it would mean we qualified...and the US is the only team in the group that does not quite have their destiny solely in their own hands)
So that will make for an awesome couple of showdowns this coming Thursday...can't friggin wait...

History has proven this to be the Group o' Death. We don't even need to be debating it.
