mp3 players . . . what should i buy? what do you own?

I'm in the market for an mp3 player. I've been researching cnet, but wanted some of your opinions. Space isn't a big deal for me, although I want at least a gig. 40 would probably be obscene. Anyway I have a pc, less than $300 to spend . . . point me in the right direction.

Also, I'd like to read what you think of your mp3 players. Does it work well? Do you use it enough to get your money's worth? Let me know . . .
