I could hear the US fans loud and clear throughout most of the match. Also, the stands didn't seem to be a sea of the blue Azurri jerseys. More a red, white, blue and green mix. I could hear the
clap clap
clap clap clap
US
and
the Ooooooooh USA chant, as well ast the old stand by U-S-A.
Good job K-town folks.

People were saying that, after the embarassment against the Czech Republic, that the United States fans needed to step up as well as the team.
Well, from what I viewed on ESPN Sam's Army was in full throat for the entire 90 minutes (I wonder how many Germans were chanting with us simply out of hatred for Italy :D )
The bottom line is, with what's at stake next Thursday, the walls of the stadium in Nuremburg had better be SHAKING from the noise Sam's Army makes!

You could clearly tell American fans were dominating because when something went wrong you heard "boo". The Europeans prefer to whistle to show their displeasure so it must have been American supporters.

Yeah, the fans were great. And it was also good to see more than "USA, USA" chants as well.
Overall, the atmosphere was tremendous in the stadium. It was an exhilirating game to watch.

Jut got back from the stadium. Thanks for the props - and yes, it was rocking It was an incredibe atmosphere. The best part was when one of the Italians and was being stretchered off at midfield so he could jump up and re-enter the game and the crowd was chanting "bull$h*t, bull$h*t!!" and Keller started clapping at us, then on the ensuing kick he hit it out of bounds to the right and it hit one of the group that was with the guy that got stretchered off. I'm not sure if he meant to launch it at them, but it was pretty funny from where I was sitting. :D

Major props to all of you that took time out from your real lives to support the team. I was super impressed that in spite of nearness to Italy it seemed like a pro-US crowd on the television coverage. The only people that rock more than you were the 23 on the field that showed us what it means to play with all your heart.
i replayed the national anthem 3x on my tivo just now, our ppl at the stadium represented us well and sounded great.
I was actually concerned thinking that many "Italian" fans living in the states would have gobbled up many of the tickets offered by our federation. Glad to see i was wrong.
We could actually have an over whelming majority at the Ghana game.....amazing when you think about it.

Great job fans. That's all I have to say. Never thought I'd see the day where our boys get so much support in a European stadium.

By the way, I heard on NPR on All Things Considered that (according to the journalist they were interviewing who was at the game) that the US fans were louder than the Italians... so not just us who noticed.:)

And check out Davies ESPN blog (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=davies/index), written during the game. This was his closing comment, written as it ended: An incomparable performance by the national team in the modern era. And listen to those fans. Football just arrived in America I think, the players and fans played and cheered with the true passion of a footballing superpower. The U.S. may not win this World Cup, they may not even qualify for the next round, but this performance continues to lay the groundwork for the future. In fact, watching the performance of those players lifted in communion with their fans, I think they just completed the basement and the first five floors.

OK, As some other fans have said in the thread about the fans at the Czech republic game, they said I was full of sh*t (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=368304)
Well after being in the stands for the Italy-USA game tongiht, I have to say I am full of sh*t. 100 percent.
The fans were amazing. Many stood the whole time. Even though the USA was outnumbered we sang harder lounder, and for the whole game.
I apologize to all US Fans. I have never been at a game like that before. Portugal v. USA will always be sweet but today was amazing.

"Pirlo & co, who admitted only on Thursday that they had not heard of many of their opposition, were caught out by the Americans who, roared on by a vociferous ex-patriot backing in Kaiserslautern, pressed for an opening."
Clearly, ex-pats living in Europe weren't the only Americans bringing it vs Italy yet at least one non-American noticed. There were large numbers of Yanks visiting from the States delivering the goods. Well done, extremely well done. Kudos!
