I have never seen such poor distribution from him in my life. Yes he made some wonderful saves, but the rest of his game was abyssmal. Horrid. No he didnt have an awful game, but he was definitely not the MotM. That goes to Mastroeni or Dempsey in my opinion.

Not Mastroeni, since he didn't make it to halftime.
An argument can be made for Landon Donovan, IMO.

MASTROENI!??!?!?! For that really well thought out foul 80 yards from his own goal that probably cost his team 2 points?
Wow.
Donovan or Gooch... possibly claudio.
Wow... mastroeni... wow.

Bocanegra shut his side down and dished out plenty of pain to the flopsies. He won everything. He's my MotM.

Agreed, Boca was fantastic. So was Gooch and Dolo.

Yeah, before he was sent off for a horribly horribly bad call, Mastroeni was playing the match of his life. The ref @#$@ing up doesnt change that.

Aye, I could agree with Boca actually - good call. Gooch was solid, but not necessarily MotM?

While I'm here... let me say that Boca for Lewis was night and day.

The entire backline in the second half, after Pope's ejection, was excellent. Gooch and Bocanegra deserve special praise for today's efforts. If a team does not snap up Gooch when they have the chance and work on honing his rough edges, they will be sorry in the next few years. Are there any teams in England, or anywhere for that matter, that are known for fine-tuning defenders and producing stars at that position?

Gooch was absolutely solid today. He was a force out there, and a real pain in the butt for the Italian Diving Team. He's probably the MOTM, but it's hard to explain in five seconds to a non-informed fan why you pick him.

Nice game from a lot of guys, but Gooch pulled a Borgetti on Luca Toni.

... and then he got sent off... for committing a moronic bordering on brain dead foul. That doesnt get you man of the match. Took himself out for 2 matches.

Once again, Mastroeni did not take himself out of the match on that play. He made a bad play, but the ref made a much greater mistake than Pablo did. If the ref gives him a deserved Yellow Card, he very likely goes on to be MotM imo.
