Which young or relatively unknown player makes an impression in this WC Finals? Cahill is not a young player, but he probably becomes better known outside Australia and England after the first game. I also impressed with Torres and Villa, but I know them very well since I follow La Liga regularly. I am not sure how well-known they are outside of Spain.

How bout the player of the tournament so far? Philip Lahm......thats if no one remembers his season with Stuttgart some two years ago and their run in the CL.

Onyewu looked good in both games. He was not marking Koller when he scored. Toni was completely out of the game. Kaabi of Iran also played well althrough he deserved two yellows against Portugal.

Michael Owen of England. This guy has been terribly underrated since his appearance. He's as great as Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, a thousand times better than Beckham.

Burrito Ortega from Argentina. This guy is good and underrrated.

Cabrito Orellana from Mexico.

Wanchope from Costa Rica.

Donovan from the USA.

Mavdhikia from Iran.

Rosicky from Czech Republic.

The list goes on and on and on.................

Since neither played CL football the last few years, they aren't that well known, unfortunately.

The Angolan centre back, Kali, I believe, impressed in their first two matches. Not sure how old he is, though. Lahm is maybe in this category, and Valdez of Paraguay caught my eye as well. Ghana's goalkeeper is an excellent shot-stopper, although he looks nervous on crosses.

FOR NOW, if we're talking about the 'less known' players that are showing good potential and that will become 'hot' for the summer transfer season...

Tenorio (the attacker of Ecuador)
E.Mendez (winger of Ecuador)
Asamoah Gyan (Ghana)
Mascherano (Argentina)
Joao Ricardo (Angola GK - he is without a club and showing some really good stuff)

...and others I may not remember.

Shilla Iliasu, Habib Mohammed, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan.

Good showing from the youngest squad at this world cup.

yea just to back up bergamis post........

a HUGE part of the ecuador NT is practically assured foreign contracts after this WC.

mendez is gong to river plate.
carlos tenorio has sparked major interest.
ivan hurtado will probably end up in spain.
reascos is going to santos

and someone better snatch up segundo castillo, this guy is our version of claude makalele, prob the best at that position.

Aaron Lennon (limited appearance, admittedly), Clint Dempsey and Kali of Angola.

David Villa and Fernando Tores..
The way Spain played against Ukraine was pretty unreal, tho Argentina's display against S&M was frightening..

David Villa was the 2nd top goalscorer in the Spanish league this season (1 goal behind Eto'o), so there is no need for him to make a name,... he already has one.

Torres is already valued 30+ millions of EUR,... so he too has already a name. :)

Robinho too. Many still think he is a flop.

Hey, you beat me to it. I wanted to add him, because he impressed a lot (good shot, good free kick/corner specialist, good dribbling and sense of positioning, a lot of stamina,...) :)

But he already has a big name, in difference to Villa.
