Props to them, the Ivory Coast team. They sure played a beautiful game of football with no fear and lots of heart and style. I am sorry to see them eliminated. I was very much entertained by their game, as a neutral fan. Thanx for the good football you brought to this world cup.

I agree. I thought their play was entertaining and that they deserved a better fate. I hope they can learn from this and come back strong in South Africa because they have a great young team. They need to work on their finishing though.

It will be interesting to see if the African Nations actually start getting calls when the WC is in South Africa.

Both Zokora and Yaya should both be on top European sides in no time.

Yes, mayor props to the IC. This was a vairy unfair group and it's too bad for them. In any other group they would have probably qualified.

IC has been great even though they lost both games. Too bad, they are in the group of death.
They should at least get a 1 PK today. They were so damn unlucky. They'll be back for sure.

IVC did great, and its rough they haven't earned even a single point.

I do think, however, the "group of death" talk was overhyped.

The standings of Groups A and C have me really nervous about the other "group of death" (E).

Couldn't have said it better. They caught too many bad breaks. Well the ball doesn't always roll the way you want it.:(

Congratulations to the Ivory Coast for showing tremendous heart, desire and passion. Luck was not on the Elephants side, I will be pulling for them to make the round of 16 if they manage to qualify for South Africa.

The African failures are due to

1. The best teams not in the tournament (besides CIV)
2. CIV and Ghana put in ridiculously hard groups

The seeding for African teams was very unlucky this time. Swap Togo and Angola's placement with Ivory Coast and Ghana and I like these team's chances to advance

Big picture, the African teams continue to come on strong, even if it seems like a step backwards in this world cup.

Ivory Coast definitely were specatcular..They gave hard time to not only Holland but also to the MIGHTY ARGENTINA....They deserved much more than just 3 games, but lady luck just wasn't on their side...All the best on their next and last match of WC against Serbia...

I agree with all the posts in this thread thusfar. Ivory Coast played really well against 2 of the best teams in the tournament and the world(The Netherlands and Argentina) and only lost by 1 goal in both games. I hope they get a consolation win vs. Serbia in their last game.
