Like it or not Becks has to stay in the team because of his crosses and free kicks. But I do want to see more of Lennon getting forward. So with Neville out and no other real right back in the team could Becks play there? He's not a great tackler but he he does track back alot and could certainly break up play if not sliding in with a perfect challenge.

Could it be....

.............Robinson...........
Becks...Terry...Rio...A. Cole
.........Carrick/Hargreaves....
Lennon...................J.Cole
.........Gerrard..................
..Rooney....Crouch/Owen....

At times during the last 20 mins thats wehere Becks was anyway.

It worked against Trinidad because they had every man behind the ball.
I wouldnt like to see him play there against a top team considering that he aint exactly known for his tackling/marking skills .

He doesnt have the pace or the tackling ability to be a RB.

How about Ashley Cole at RB and Wayne Bridge at LB?

Cole was caught out too many times when Sven changed the formation around and he was left isolated against an opponent, outside of his natural position. This is yet another reason why Wes Brown should have been included, as he is comfortable playing at right-back. It looks like you are going to be stuck with Hargreaves...

Another reason? That implies there is more than one. I cannot think of any reason why he should have been included.

You would rather have Sol Campbell wasting yet another place in the squad? He played himself out of a place and brings nothing to the table.

Ledley King should have gone instead of Sol. Would also have meant we could have left Jenas at home and taken another forward.

Neville/Brown - Ferdinand/King - Terry/Carragher - Cole/Bridge

Actually i thought years ago that this was the position that mos suited becks, but he hasn't the pace to do it now, plus there is the added problem of teaching an old dog new tricks, what with all the subtleties of being a RB or RWB, timing, when to overlap the winger, how to read the attacks, how to step up for offsides, not getting caught out, etc, you cant just chuck in a 31 year old into a new position like that. I think perhaps a 4 3 3 with Stevie as the holding player and Lennon and a LW, with Rooney on his own through the middle might work. This a) puts J Cole into his natural position as an outside left forward, with less defending and playing further up the field so less defenders to beat. also this lets lampard have a winger on his outside, giving him the space that he gets at Chelsea's, plus the willing tricky dribbler to his left that he can use. Anyway, there are too many problems with England for drastic changes, we have to struggle on with what we have got, and hope that we don't face anyone who is a) world class and b) on form on the day.

You keep putting Brown in there for some reason.

You keep putting Brown in there for some reason.

He can play well at right-back and get forward down the flank to support the attack. None of your other options can do that. Instead of your ABU bullshite, you should realise that picking a squad for a tournament is all about first selecting the best players that suit your system and then selecting players to cover all possible eventualities. Sven has clearly not done that, which is why your attack is a shambles, central midfield still the main problem, several players still not fit/sharp and you currently have no right-back.

You clearly have not bothered to watch him play and are incapable of comprehending what I have posted. Still, at least I'm not the twat who suggested Ashley Cole at right-back...

I wouldn't mind Beckham switiching to RB only in the second half when England needs to score. If Neville is out, I'm afraid Carragher will be starting in all games.

Why don't you play 3-5-2 instead of 4-2-2? You could easily add another CB to the Terry/Ferdinand pairing and then add Lennon to a five-man midfield.

Wes Brown isn't a bad player - haven't seen a great deal of him this season with him being injured but hes not bad at all. I think 5 in midfield.
