Folks, I know most soccer fans are transplanted Euro's, and thus tend to whine, but can you just cut the commentators some god-damn slack? We are granted the wonderful gift of being able to watch soccer at the highest level on our TV's with a coca-cola in hand (all of which were impossible to enjoy in virtually ever other era). The commentating has not been perfect, but at least 90% of what they say is directly related to the play, and the color analysts continually throw in their usually insightful two cents, yet people on this board can never seem to be pleased: "O'Brian mispronounced a name", "Messing is too excited", "Balboa is not excited enough".... come on people. I thought America was a conservative nation, one where people made the most of their opportunities and circumstances, instead of complain for the higher-ups to constantly cater to your exact needs.

a couple of points.
1. do you honestly think "transplanted euro's" are doing all the whining? and if they are, that they "whine" any more than the average american?

2. do you honestly think that (even if you say "please") you can seriously dissuade posters from voicing their opinions, er . . i'm sorry . . . from whining . . . when the primary purpose of a message board is for people to have a forum to express themselves without real fear of retribution?

as far as america being a "conservative nation" and all that, i pass this quote onto you, and all americans, conservative or not.

“We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it.”
-Edward R. Murrow

It's very simple. ESPN/ABC is marketing a product to us. Well, to you guys, really. They are giving us a shit product, and we are talking about it. I'm certain that many of the posters complaining around here are taking their complaints to ESPN, as I have. And look what's happened -- the coverage has gotten better. If you go to a restaurant and the food is poor, do you just eat it, or do you let someone know? Well, I let someone know, and if ran a restaurant, I'd certainly want to know; that's how things get better.

I don't really want to join you in making sweeping generalizations about Americans; however, I think the spirit of not settling for mediocrity is one of the better traits of American character.

You clearly don't get it....

How about if you stop Complaining about people not complaining but giving their opinions of a ************ product when that product is of quality in other parts of the world!?
