I'll be watching the match in Frankfurt by the river wearing my Ecuador top. Wife's best friend married a German. Best friends parent will be there too. So we'll have 9 fans in all counting children. Any other Ecuador fans planning to be in Frankfurt for the match?

i can see a tie, but i think it will be victory for germany.......all of a sudden klose and podolski will be scoring those obvious chances they were missing against Poland.....

They've already dealt with one set of Polish strikers, I'm sure they can do it again.

I see Ecuador as favorites to win the whole WC - if they continue to make so much (result) out of so little (play). But i seriously doubt they can continue this effective. But it could be a 0-0 or 1-1 draw against germany (don´t hope so).

A tie would probably mean a Germany/England clash in the first game of the next round, right?
Whew! That would be totally awesome.

Absolutely. England German in the R16. Then a Ecuador-Paraguay or Ecuador-Sweden match up on the other side. We'll probably find out which in a couple of hours.

funny, lol....but i dont think ethnicity has much to do with playing style....i just think germany will edge ecuador......thats my unbiased opinion, since both ecuador and germany beat my Poland, and i obviously hate both your teams for the forseeable future :D.....but i guess a tie might be in the hands since both teams will avoid trying to get injuries as well as yellows, and yah your d is pretty good so far......anyways, ecuador has already made it to the second round, that is an accomplishment in itself. but i think you guys have the potential to be the break out team of the world cup......hey no hard feelings, good luck........

Will be definately an interesting game! I didn't expect that Ecuador would be so decent! So I predict a close game which Germany will win 2:1 after a hard fight!

Germany will beat them 3-1 and win the group.
Ecuador played great so far,
but Germany will get better from match to match.

Ecuador has an advantage in goal difference, and neither team would like to play England - the expected Group B winner - in the Round of 16. Germany needs to win and Ecuador can't afford to lose. So we should see both teams fighting to the very end. And that's good news (for neutral fans like me, anyway).

Germany will be playing their asses off, I don't think they want to face England after the group stages.
It doesn't matter whether England hasn't been that impressive, they could step it up any game, especially with Rooney back and the team finding their WC rhythm.
This should be a great match but very calculated and tight defensively. Don't expect a goal fest.

No, I'm just stating the obvious. If I'm Germany (or Ecuador), I would rather take my chances with (now likely 2nd place) Sweden than with (likely 1st place) England. Might beat either one or lose to either one, but I'll play the percentages.
You act like you disagree. Do you? If so, on what basis?

I know there is a lot of speculation talk...about what could happen in the next round, but let's try and keep it focused on the game. Thanks

They will tie.
Germany leaves some space open in the back that Ecuador will know how to explote. Also Ecuador's defense in so well calibrated that I do not see Germany finding it easy to get through.

germany will beat ecuador.
because they are the host and got big home crowd to impress. they will play hard to win the group.
ecuador however, already have accomplished the mission in group stage and they might play less aggresive for a draw.
germay 2: 0 ecuador
